PHOTOS: 4th Inf. Div. Rear-D commander speaks with Texas A&M football players

BAGHDAD – Col. David Thompson, the rear-detachment commander for the 4th Infantry Division at Fort Hood, Texas, spoke with Texas A&M football players on the university’s practice field in College Station, Texas. The Aggies will wear the 4th Inf. Div.’s unit patch on their uniforms during their highly anticipated road game against the Texas Longhorns in Austin on Thanksgiving Day.

Mike Sherman, the Aggie’s head coach, spoke with his players about the significance wearing the “Ironhorse” Division’s patch as they prepare for their in-state rival. The patch will be sewn on their uniforms right before the game.

David Thompson, the rear-detachment commander for the 4th Infantry Division at Fort Hood, Texas, speaks with Texas A&M football players on the university’s practice field in College Station, Texas. The Aggies will wear the 4th Inf. Div.’s unit patch on their uniforms during their highly anticipated road game against the Texas Longhorns in Austin on Thanksgiving Day.

Mike Sherman, the Aggie’s head coach, said the players will wear the “Ironhorse” Division’s patch, sewn on their uniforms right before the game. After meeting the players, Colonel Thompson presented the team with three U.S. flags.

The team will play Maj. Gen. Jeffery Hammond’s speech during its “yell practice,” a large rally attended by the team and student body prior to the game. BAGHDAD – Col. David Thompson, the rear-detachment commander for the 4th Infantry Division at Fort Hood, Texas, presented three U.S. flags to the Texas A&M football team staff at the university’s practice field in College Station, Texas. Thompson also presented flyers (shown above) to the team’s staff members, which will be presented to the players in the near future.

The 4ID soldiers presented a poster to the players. It was addressed “To All the Texas A&M football players and coaching staff. Thank you for your visbible support of your fellow Americans, The Soldiers of the 4th Infantry Division.”

The poster said, “On this Thanksgiving Day of 2008, our Soldiers wish you the best and are very thankful that you are wearing their patch. Your recognition of their selfless service is greatly appreciated.”
