BAGHDAD - Col. David Thompson, the rear-detachment commander for the 4th Infantry Division at Fort Hood, Texas, speaks with Texas A&M football players on the university's practice field in College Station, Texas. The Aggies will wear the 4th Inf. Div.'s unit patch on their uniforms during their highly anticipated road game against the Texas Longhorns in Austin on Thanksgiving Day. Mike Sherman, the Aggie's head coach, spoke with his players about the significance wearing the "Ironhorse" Division's patch as they prepare for their in-state rival. The patch will be sewn on their uniforms right before the game. After meeting with the players, Thompson presented the team with three U.S. flags and also provided them with a DVD featuring a greeting from Maj. Gen. Jeffery Hammond, the division's commanding general, who is deployed to Baghdad, Iraq, as the commanding general of Multi-National Division - Baghdad. The team plans on playing Hammond's speech during its "yell practice," which is a large rally attended by the team and student body prior to the game. The 4th Infantry Division is currently serving in the 12th month of a 15-month deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 07-09.(U.S. Army photo courtesy of the 4th Inf. Div. PAO)
