Folsom Police SWAT Team Places Third in Best of The West SWAT Competition

The Folsom Police Department’s SWAT team competed in the annual Best in the West SWAT competition held in San Jose on September 18th and 19th.

The competition included physical agility challenges, building assault, multi-weapon course, two-person weapons course, shotgun course, and a sniper/observer course.

In addition to taking third place overall, the team took home the second place plaque for the sniper/observer course and a third place plaque for the team building assault. “I am extremely proud of the performance of our SWAT team,” said the Commander of the SWAT team, Lieutenant Perry Albers.

The competition is extremely challenging and provides SWAT officers with an opportunity to compete and learn from other agencies. Seven members from each agency competed in this two-day competition.

Members from the Folsom Police Department SWAT team included team leader Sergeant Mark Schanrock and officers Evan Fardanesh, Jon Kracher, John Wagner, Warner Herndon, John Triplett, and Serge Litvinov.
