Christina Applegate Seeking Treatment for Breast Cancer

By Garrett Godwin

Christina Applegate is seeking treatment for breast cancer, which the actress has caught ahead of time. Ame Van Dern, Applegate's publicist, stated on Saturday that the cancer was discovered through an MRI and can be treatable.

The 36-year-old Applegate has recently been on the comeback train with ABC's Samantha Who?, a female version of NBC's My Name Is Earl. The series is about a woman who comes out of a coma with amnesia, while trying to piece together who she was while striving to be who she is now. Since its debut last fall, it has become one of the breakout comedies on television, earning Applegate both a Golden Globe and an Emmy nomination.

But before Samantha Who?, she was widely known as ditzy yet delicious Kelly Bundy on FOX's Married ... with Children, which ran from 1987 to 1998, and can still been seen on syndication. That same fall, she starred as a single mother on NBC's Jesse, which lasted two seasons, and was in cable re-runs on USA Network.

Applegate returned to the network as Jennifer Aniston's self-absorbed sister on Friends, in which she won an Emmy for Outstanding Guest Star in 2003. The actress has also been on the big screen with films such as Don't Tell Mom The Babysitter's Dead and Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy. Applegate was also on Broadway in Sweet Charity, which led to a Tony nomination in 2005.

"I'm really grateful that acting is the job that was chosen for me" she stated to the Associated Press in April. "I get really lost when I'm not working. I don't know what I'm supposed to do with myself. Thank God for dance class and the New York Times crossword puzzle and 'American Idol'. But acting is what I really have to do."

Applegate is expected to appear on "Stand Up To Cancer", a one-hour special that will raise funds for cancer research. It will air on NBC, CBS, and ABC on September 5. The actress will also continue working on Samantha Who?, which starts its second season September 29 on ABC.

On behalf of everyone here at Newsblaze Newsblaze, we wish Christina a speedy recovery and our prayers are with her.
