Kucinich Gives Aid and Comfort to the Enemy, Should be Disqualified

Presidential Candidate, Daniel Gilbert invokes the 14th amendment, calling for the disqualification of Representative Kucinich from serving in Congress, for the reason of giving aid and comfort to enemy

On a recent trip to the Middle East, Democratic Congressman and Presidential Candidate Dennis Kucinich lambasted the Bush Administration and the War in Iraq as “a failure,” “crooked” and “based on a lie.” In addition to demoralizing our troops on the frontlines, like Tokyo Rose, Kucinich praised the President of a nation that is a state sponsor of Hezbollah and responsible for funneling suicide bombers into Iraq, who are intent on killing our troops.

For this, Rep. Kucinich should immediately be disqualified from serving in Congress under Section 3 of the Fourteenth Amendment.

In his interview on Syrian television, Kucinich consistently referred to the Iraq War as an “occupation” that was “dishonest” and responsible for the deaths of millions of Iraqis, going so far as recommending that Americans “pay reparations to the people of Iraq for the great human tragedy that has been caused.”

Kucinich went on to praise President Assad, demanding the Syrian leader be “respected and appreciated for the role he has played” in handling Iraqi refugees, feeling “honored” to meet with the leader of a nation that sponsors one of the major terrorist threats to American citizens. For the sake of PR and political points with the far left, the Damascus Dandelion ignored the role Syria has played in the deaths of many of our troops.

Syria has become what Sen. Joseph Lieberman has dubbed the “travel agent for Al Qaeda in Iraq.” According to Lieberman “the transit of Al Qaeda suicide bombers through Syria on the way to Iraq is completely unacceptable and must stop.” Snuggling up to Syria and blasting our military forces, Kucinich refused to meet with any troops in Iraq, lamely explaining “I don’t want to bless that occupation with my presence.”

Section 3 of the Fourteenth Amendment of the US Constitution states “No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress…(who) shall have… given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof.” This Section of the Fourteenth Amendment, ratified in 1868, addressed issues related to Southerners who had volunteered. Although this action has never yet been taken by Congress, The Heritage Guide to the Constitution states “the clause is still in operation and would apply.”

Rep. Kucinich’s actions not only gave aid and comfort to terrorists in Iraq bent on killing our troops, his statements, broadcast as propaganda throughout the Arab world, have emboldened our enemies across the globe. Kucinich and his Democratic comrades have increasingly succeeded in projecting the image that the United States is weak and unable to stomach the fight against Islamo-fascism. What better pep talk for our enemies?

Dan Gilbert says:

“In 2000 I voted for President Bush and the Republicans. I had high hopes that with the Republicans in control of the legislature and the executive branches that real change would occur in our government. I thought the principles that we all thought Republicans stood for would guide the Republicans to do what is best for the country. I thought I would see a new higher moral standard. What we got was corruption, bribes, moral decline, hearings with no action, tax breaks for big business, McCain Feingold and last year 15,000 earmarks.”

“We got a Republican majority in the Senate and a President who thinks that the best way to handle the illegal alien problem is to give them amnesty. And just last month we had a great breakthrough with the North Koreans where they agreed to not do what they agreed to not do under Clinton. How much will it cost the American citizens this time?”

“There has to be a change in Presidential and Congressional leadership to effect change in this country. There has to be a way to get the politicians out and the statesmen in. Those politicians who vote only for the sake of the party, the lobbyist or big business have to be removed. To bring about substantial changes in the government, these new statesmen must control the House, Senate and the White House.”
