Citizens of Mexico Celebrate Their National Day

The citizens of Mexico today celebrated their 201st anniversary of independence.

Mexico has one of the world’s largest economies. It is considered both a regional power and middle power. Mexico is recently considered as a newly industrialized country and an emerging power, according to Wikipedia.

US Secretary of State, Hillary Rodham Clinton, speaking in Washington, DC, extended the congratulations of President Obama and the people of the United States, to the people of Mexico on their National Day.

“Mexico and the United States share nearly 2,000 miles of border, conduct more than one billion dollars in two way trade every day, and enjoy ties of culture and family that reach deep into the hearts of both our people.” -Ms. Clinton

She highlighted that both countries are linked by shared histories, values, and opportunities. The ties of friendship guide them as they work toward common goals and interests, from improving regional security to promoting greater prosperity for all our people. She added neither country can address these challenges alone, but together they can find solutions to common problems for the benefit of our hemisphere and the world.

“As you gather with family, friends, and loved ones to hear the Grito de Dolores and the bells of independence ringing out in plazas from Baja California to Quintana Roo, know that the United States stands with you as a friend and partner. !Viva Mexico! and best wishes for a year of peace and prosperity.” -Ms. Clinton

Mexican economy is projected to nearly triple by 2020. By 2050, Mexico will have the 5th largest economy in the world, According to Goldman Sachs.
