West Bank Mosque Attacked
The United States of America today expressed strong condemnation of what they called a provocative arson attack on a West Bank mosque in the village of Kfar Jabaa near Ramallah.
Reports say suspected Jewish right-wing extremists who left racist anti-Arab slogans written in Hebrew on the exterior walls of the mosque set on fire the holy place on Tuesday.
In DC, Department Spokesperson Victoria Nuland said hateful, dangerous, and provocative actions such as these are never justified.
“We note that the Israeli Government has condemned this heinous attack and pledged to bring the perpetrators to justice. We look to Israeli law enforcement officials to do so expeditiously.” – Ms. Nuland

Israel captured East Jerusalem along with the West Bank and Gaza in the Six-Day War in 1967, but annexed the city as its united capital in a move not recognized by the international community. The Palestinians want East Jerusalem as capital of their future State.
Israeli-Palestinian peace talks have been stalled since late September last year following Israel’s refusal to extend a 10-month freeze on settlement activity. That decision prompted Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas to withdraw from direct talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
