Last week, a WIBA Flyweight Title Fight in Zurich, Switzerland between Eileen Olszewski and Nadia Raoui resulted in a win for the Hawaiian, Olszewski. Some members of the Boxing press have called the decision controversial.
Team Olszewski says the only thing they find controversial is Austrian Judge Vogl’s scoring, who had it 98-92 for Raoui.
They say the promoter, Saureland Events only uses the Austrian Boxing Commission in Germany and Switzerland. Vogl was a local judge and the Olszewski team says his scoring unfairly favored the local fighter.
After the fight, Eileen Olszewski said “I feel that I landed the more effective punches throughout the fight and did more than enough to win.” Olszewski was the only fighter from the Red corner not to lose that night.
Saureland Events fighters all came from the blue corner. Anyone who knows boxing, knows how hard it is to get out with a draw on foreign soil.
