Female Boxer Cristy ‘Code Red’ Nickel a Knockout on Sirius Satellite Radio

If light middleweight Cristy “Code Red’ Nickel, a native of northern Idaho who lives in New York, can fight nearly as well as she can promote herself she’s destined to become a world champion.

The 31-year-old Nickel, a personal trainer with an A-list of clients that includes Katie Couric, will put her 7-5 (4 KOS) record on the line at Madison Square Garden’s WaMu Theater on Saturday, March 15th.

She will fight Olivia Fonseca, 1-1-2 (1 KO), of Philadelphia on the card that is being called “A Fistful of Shamrocks.” It is being promoted by Celtic Gloves Promotions (www.celticgloves.com) and will be headlined by undefeated junior middleweight James Moore, 14-0 (10 KOS), a native of County Wicklow, Ireland who fights out of New York.

On the evening of March 5th, Nickel more than held her own against tough competition on Sirius Satellite Radio. First she squared off against the crude Jason Ellis on the show that bears his name. Ellis is a former skateboarding champion who will soon make his debut as an Ultimate Fighter.

His show is the third ranked program on all of Sirius, second only to the Howard Stern and Jim Brewer shows.

Later in the evening Nickel was a guest on “The Wiseguy Show,” which is hosted by John “Cha Cha” Ciarcia, Vincent Pastore, both of whom were regulars on “The Sopranos,” Joe Causi, Joe Rigano and Uncle Floyd.

“It was a hoot,” said the good-natured and extremely attractive Nickel who actually got the better of Ellis and the Wiseguys in many of their verbal exchanges. All of the hosts complimented her on her dedication to her craft, strong handshake, ingratiating smile and, most importantly, her ability to roll with the punches in such a male-dominated environment and give as good as she got.

In addition to a great night of boxing on March 15th, live music will be performed by the band “Big Girl’s Blouse.”

Tickets can be purchased through Ticketmaster, 866-448-7849, or by calling Celtic Gloves at 917-559-8467 or Gleason’s Gym at 718-797-2872.
