(Part Five of Six)
FBI Director James Comey was in the thick of the Clinton political web as the presidential election of 2016 began to wind down. It appeared that Hillary Clinton would easily beat Donald Trump and she would be the 45th president.
But the best-laid plans have a way of being sidetracked by unforeseen events. That was the case in late October, less than two weeks before the election.
The NYPD had been investigating disgraced former Congressman Anthony Wiener for sexting underage women. He happened to be married to Huma Abedin, Hillary’s top aide. The police discovered classified emails on his laptop from Hillary Clinton.
The discovery had all but spoiled Hillary’s easy ride into the White House. Because the NYPD were not in on the fix Comey had perpetrated with Hillary and her cohorts, there was no way to cover up the situation. Comey was in a quandary about what to do next.
The NYPD began leaking details, probably at the behest of disgusted FBI agents who had been on Hillary’s trail. Lurid information was being filtered to unfiltered media outlets that would print them. The story was about to explode.
Enter Hillary’s savior James Comey. He stepped in to cover for the all-but-assured winner of the election. He short-circuited the NYPD leaks by publicly acknowledging the laptop and the emails, but then claimed just days later that hundreds of thousands of emails had all been reviewed and “nothing new” was on the laptop.
In other words, “nothing new” for an enormous volume of emails. How could anyone physically get through that amount of emails so quickly? Comey’s credibility began to come into play and he panicked.
What could Comey do to salvage his reputation? His protection of Hillary had reached a breaking point and he was about to be exposed. If Hillary won, he could keep the FBI mum to her criminal activity. He could prevent the Clinton Foundation from being exposed and Hillary’s criminally bad behavior.
He was forced to announce the “new evidence” nine days prior to the election. The Clinton campaign was furious and the writing was on the wall. It was the last straw with the American electorate. It proved once and for all there was more fire than smoke to the endless months of allegations and innuendo. Hillary, already a terrible campaigner and candidate overall, lost the election.
Those involved in the Hillary mirage were subject to the new president who did not take kindly to any of them. Before Trump took office, he had to be destroyed. They had to devise a plan to force Trump out as quickly as possible to save their reputations and careers.
The cast of characters varied from Democratic politicians, the RINO establishment, the media, the Obama-Clinton operatives embedded throughout the intelligence agencies and the entire bureaucracy, and most importantly, the Obama DOJ and Jim Comey.
The people with the most to lose had to act fast. No one had dreamed of this nightmarish scenario. The scheme took shape and it included smearing Trump with Russian made-up “connections” through supposed investigations by “unknown former government officials” and to trap the new president into a charge of criminal interference with the FBI.
The plan would largely be carried out by the compliant arm of the Democratic Party; the news media. That was easy considering the slanted, one-sided ideology emanating from the main networks, cable and a vast majority of the nation’s major newspapers.
The improvised witch hunt was on and the cast of hundreds, if not thousands in place.
The surveillance of the Trump campaign continued undeterred after the election. The Trump people were “unmasked” illegally and private conversations and transcripts were leaked throughout the government and to the media.
The first major target was Trump’s National Security Advisor selection; General Michael Flynn. His appropriate communication with Russian officials on behalf of Trump became the target. The mere word, “Russian,” would send Americans into a tailspin.
The “Russian Conspiracy” had been created and the “investigation” was on. With the enthusiastic support of RINO Senator John McCain, the fake Russian connection got 24/7 coverage in the media. Without a shred of evidence, the networks, cable and print media went about destroying Donald Trump’s administration.
This was perfect cover for Jim Comey. His “FBI investigation” became a source for constant leaks and anonymous government sources that were just fine for a media that hated Trump. “Russia” became the operative word in a huge majority of media stories. Say anything enough times and the public will grow to believe even the biggest lie was fact-based.
On the day of Trump’s swearing-in, the firestorm of unproven half-truths and outright fabrication began in earnest. The DOJ , still filled with Obama loyalists, Hillary/Obama operatives and Comey himself led the direct attack.
Trump was left defenseless as the Democrats, led by Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, obstructed Trump appointments and held his attorney general selection in check. DOJ Obama appointee Sally Yates approached the White House with “news” that General Flynn had been in contact with Russia and alleged that he might be compromised. She revealed that there is an FBI “investigation” into the Russia ties that was being leaked steadily to the anxious media.
The White House Counsel clearly wanted more information than her word. But Comey set up a dinner with Trump. If only he could get the new president to inquire about the Flynn situation, he can catch him in a conspiracy charge or even obstruction of justice. If nothing else, “interfering with an FBI investigation.”
Now if Trump gets wind of this conspiracy, it is a double-edged sword. It protects Comey and DOJ Democrat holdovers from being terminated by the new administration because they are involved in an “ongoing investigation.” Should Trump fire Comey, it can be construed as interference in the investigation and a federal crime. That is grounds for impeachment.
Donald Trump didn’t just become a billionaire from something falling from the sky. He is a sharp, astute businessman who has dealt with underhanded people his entire professional life. He is not a man who just fell off the turnip wagon.
The new president knows he is probably being recorded. That could include his phones. The media could be listening in. Nevertheless, Jim Comey informs Trump he is not under investigation regarding Russia, but others are being investigated.
Trump has his own plan. He will not listen to a man he suspects is anything but a fair and just FBI director. He cuts Flynn loose since he is nothing but a pawn for further fake investigations. Comey has told him he is not under investigation, but conveniently fails to tell that to Congress. The night of the long knives has begun and Trump knows he is the only one who can end this political game of chicken.
