The rats are deserting the USS Harvey Weinstein. In this case they include top Congressional Democrats such as Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and potential 2020 presidential contender Sen. Elizabeth Warren. They received campaign donations from the disgraced Hollywood titan.
It seems Weinstein had given Liz and Chuck more than $1.4 million in political contributions. At the time, they were most grateful for the donations. The real and larger reality is during the 1992 election cycle, virtually all the Democratic lawmakers, candidates and their allies, got Harvey money, according to the nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics.
But now the rats must disassociate themselves and declare Harvey an aberration to all that is liberal. His fat goose is cooked due to a New York Times expose that he settled sexual harassment lawsuits with at least eight women.
Weinstein’s behavior is especially embarrassing for a party that touts itself as pushing progressive policies for women. Of course that doesn’t include Hillary Clinton and her foundation taking millions from such women’s strongholds like Qatar and Saudi Arabia. But they won’t be driving to any polls to vote their protest.
Let’s forget Schumer and Warren. The biggest beneficiary of funds from Weinstein was the Democratic National Committee, which received about $800,000 in several of its accounts, according to the center, which analyzes political spending. The DNC plans to give more than $30,000 to Emily’s List, Emerge America and Higher Heights. All three groups work to elect women to office. That was the amount Harvey provided to the party during the 2016 campaign.
What a mess for the liberals’ caring image.
Weinstein also gave $200,000 to the party’s Senate campaign accounts, $23,200 to its House campaign arm senatorial and $46,350 to Hillary Clinton, the 2016 presidential candidate, and to HILLPAC, a committee Clinton used to support other Democrats while senator.

Oh, that’s right, Harvey also visited the White House during the Obama presidency and helped put on a film workshop in 2013, where then-first lady Michelle Obama described him as a “wonderful human being, a good friend and just a powerhouse.” The real truth is he “visited” the White House enough times to be a resident.
Strangely, aides to Clinton and Obama did not immediately return requests for comment. Let’s help them. How about, “Ah, hummm, I can’t recall.”
Schumer, ever the slimy politician, is donating thousands of dollars to several charities supporting women, said spokesman Matt House. What a guy huh? His spokesman, who hastily called a press conference for “inclusive Chuck,” said the senator is giving $5,000 to Casa Myrna, Boston’s largest provider of services to domestic violence victims.
Other ship rats detatching themselves include Weinstein recipients Sen. Cory Booker of New Jersey and Sens. Al Franken of Minnesota, Martin Heinrich of New Mexico and Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut. Funny thing: They are running for president.
The liberals are eating their own. In the past 48 hours, no less than four well-known “progressive” actresses suddenly have had their self-imposed amnesia lifted on Harvey’s indiscretions. The pile-on has commenced. It would take an army of psychiatrists to explain the shattered liberal mantra of “compassion and tolerance” in this Julius Caesar-type betrayal of one of their gods.
