This is a sad tale of insider corruption at the highest levels of our country’s government. Ignoring Attorney General Loretta Lynch’s plea to FBI Director James Comey not to react to new evidence in the Hillary email scandal, Comey sent a letter to lawmakers Friday notifying them that the agency was reviewing new emails “pertinent” to the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s private email server.
Why would Lynch make such an unprofessional request? She is supposedly the nation’s highest defender of justice in this country. Fast forward to a dubious government official who requested anonymity making excuses to The Hill that the Justice Department’s main concern was any action “could impact the presidential race.”
Why is the DOJ even concerned about the election?
The source went on to say, “The AG’s position is consistent with the department’s position not to take investigative steps that would influence an election so close to an election and to not comment on ongoing investigations. Director Comey decided to operate independently of that guidance by sending that letter to the Hill.” Could it be that Director Comey got a conscience for basically letting Clinton off the hook last July? Were his career agents ready to leak their own information?
The “official” went on to say the DOJ and the FBI (Comey and Lynch) did not discuss the matter directly. “The position of the department was made clear to the FBI.” After Lynch met with Bill Clinton on her private government jet last summer on the tarmac of Sky Harbor Airport in Phoenix, just prior to Comey’s announcement, was that in any way ethical? The husband of the woman accused?
The private discussion Lynch claimed was about Clinton’s grandchildren and Bill’s golf game came less than a week before Comey’s press conference to not file a criminal complaint with Lynch’s DOJ. The grandchildren/golf explanation can be equated to Hillary’s Beaver Cleaver excuse for the destruction of 30,000 emails. As she put it, they were only about yoga and her daughter’s wedding plans.
Understanding that, the “official “ continues; “Law enforcement officers and prosecutors may never select the timing of investigative steps or criminal charges for the purpose of affecting any election, or for the purpose of giving an advantage or disadvantage to any candidate or political party,” a 2012 memo from former Attorney General Eric Holder (another Obama selection) read. “Such a purpose is inconsistent with the Department’s mission and with the Principles of Federal Prosecution.” Read the above paragraph again.
After his July clearance of Hillary, Comey has taken heat from both sides of the aisle for not giving enough information about new developments in the Clinton case. He would only say the FBI was “reviewing” additional emails found through an unrelated investigation.
We now know the “additional information” was the FBI investigation of Hillary’s top lieutenant Huma Aberdin’s husband, former congressman Anthony Wiener, and his sexting case. Apparently Abedin used her husband’s laptop to avoid the scrutiny of Hillary’s email servers being investigated also.
The irony and stupidity of it all.
This entire episode has launched Donald Trump back into a tight race with Clinton. Much to the bewilderment of her campaign manager John Podesta and staff, this bombshell could be the fuse that directly leads to Hillary Clinton’s defeat November 8th.
FBI Director Comey, the darling of the Democratic Party last July, is now relegated to Democrats blasting him for not being forthcoming in his letter, leaving the door open for innuendo about the investigation from Clinton’s detractors. In other words, continuing to secretly discuss FBI investigations to Loretta Lynch to warn off Hillary.
Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), the ranking Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee, called Comey’s move “appalling.”
Really Diane, why is that? What’s the reasoning for the word “appalling?”
“Without knowing how many emails are involved, who wrote them, when they were written or their subject matter, it’s impossible to make any informed judgment on this development,” Feinstein said in a statement Friday. This coming after Hillary Clinton destroyed 30,000 emails and went to the extreme of bleaching them, making it impossible to retrieve them. All that for emails about a wedding and yoga?
One thing is clear, Director Comey’s announcement played right into the political campaign of Donald Trump, who is already using the letter for political purposes.
