Two recent cases renewed scrutiny of how Congress and political institutions handle misconduct across party lines.
Reports said Rep. Eric Swalwell quit California’s governor race and later resigned from Congress after sexual misconduct allegations. Swalwell denied wrongdoing.
In Texas, reports said Rep. Tony Gonzales admitted an affair with a staffer who later died by suicide. Reports also described an ethics investigation.
CA-47 independent candidate Eric J. Troutman is running an accountability town hall tonight.
Troutman also pointed to recent audience numbers for his online events. He said last week’s livestream drew 11,000 attendees, and about 500 viewers waited in the stream about five minutes before tonight’s start.
Troutman told supporters he will discuss misconduct cases involving Democrats and Republicans. He also plans to address voter concerns about a possible military draft.

Accountability Town Hall Tonight 6:10pm
Troutman scheduled the town hall for 6:10pm.
He plans to stream it on the TroutmanForAmerica YouTube channel.
He told supporters they can email the campaign to get patched in by phone.

California Example: Bill Brough Committee Removal
Troutman also referenced Bill Brough, a former California assemblymember.
In 2020, reports said Assembly leaders stripped Brough of committee assignments after a workplace investigation found unwanted touching and inappropriate conduct, including an implied offer of political favors in exchange for sexual activity.
