Mary Ann Phillips, Soldiers’ Angels Germany ‘Giving The Soldier Back His Name’

“Don’t come here to Germany, or you’ll be in big trouble from me … lol”

Mary Ann Phillips – VP Soldiers’ Angels Germany

Mary Ann Phillips works with our troops “med-evacced” from Iraq and Afghanistan.

An American citizen living in Germany since 1989, she found Soldiers’ Angels through the milblog BlackFive. Mary Ann tells of the Chaplain who meets every soldier coming in – and “Giving the soldier back his name,” to all the wide range of services SA volunteers give to the heroes.

She walks us through the journey of our heroes, and the role of Soldiers’ Angels in that journey after they arrive in the largest military hospital outside the US. From giving a toothbrush, to a backpack, to holding a patient’s hand as they talk on the phone to loved ones back in the US.
