Company A Soldiers Find Unexploded Ordnance in A Taji Junkyard

TAJI, Iraq (May 5, 2006) – Soldiers with Company A, 2nd Batalion, 327th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airorne Division were on a routine patrol through Taji, Iraq on May 5.

While passing a local junkyard, they noticed several items that could be used in the manufacture of improvised explosive devices and went to investigate.

Among the items found were rusted blasting caps, pieces of unexploded ordnance and many fragments, all items that could be used to manufacture deadly IEDs or injure unsuspecting Iraqis.

The photographs were taken by Spc. Anna-Marie Hizer, with the 133rd Mobile Public Affairs Detachment.

The Company A, 2nd Batalion, 327th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, soldiers found many pieces of unexploded ordnance in the junkyard.

The junk in this junkyard is not only dangerous to US troops, but also to Iraqi citizens.
