Bob Calvert has Lunch with Afghan Soldiers in Jalalabad, Afghanistan

Bob Calvert, the host of the Talking With Heroes Radio Show had lunch with Afghan soldiers and Fort Carson’s 4BCT 4ID in Jalalabad, Afghanistan at FOB Hughie.

Calvert had just completed video taping an event with the Afghanistan National Army (ANA) and our troops. After the event our troops and Calvert were invited to eat with the Afghan soldiers in their dining area.

The event was a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to open a Joint Security Center manned by the Afghan Army and our Troops, where both Armies will work together.

Technical Expertise

Alan is also a techie. His father was a British soldier in the 4th Indian Division in WWII, with Sikhs and Gurkhas. He was a sergeant in signals and after that, he was a printer who typeset magazines and books on his linotype machine. Those skills were passed on to Alan and his brothers, who all worked for Telecom Australia, on more advanced signals (communications). After studying electronics, communications, and computing at college, and building and repairing all kinds of electronics, Alan switched to programming and team building and management.
