The Kardashians Are A Loving, Large Family, Says E! Entertainment President

From Kim’s 72-day marriage to Kris Humphries to Rob on Dancing with the Stars to mom-ager Kris putting out her book to Kourtney about to have another baby to Kendall turning 16, 2011 is another banner year for the Kardashians. The Kardashians are probably the most successful franchise and brand name in the history of E! Entertainment Television.

Since 2007, Keeping up with the Kardashians has made Kim and her family into reality TV superstars – spawning not one, but three hit spin-offs: Khloe and Kourtney Take Miami, Kourtney and Kim Take New York, and Khloe & Lamar.

“At their core,” E! President Suzanne Kolb told TheWrap.com, “the Kardashians are an incredibly bonded, loving, large family who live an incredibly large life. And if you actually look at the history of television, there’s a pretty large number of families with that blend resonating with viewers. This just happens to be the first reality show that does it.”

However, success doesn’t come without a few critics, as some believed that the Kardashians are famous for just being famous.” That led to grassroots campaigns petitioning for E! to cancel everything with the name “Kardashian.” They also completely deleted Kim’s role in Tyler Perry’s upcoming The Marriage Counselor, about a young newlywed dealing with professional and personal problems, which includes having an affair.

Still, the Kardashians “made their mistakes here or there” Kolb said. “They’ve been very open about them in the last couple of months… But you don’t watch for them to have bad behavior. You watch for sort of over-the-top situations and really a very soapy dynamic. Nobody’s flipping a table.”

Kourtney and Kim Take New York airs Sundays at 10p on E!; season seven of Keeping up with the Kardashians is set to air sometime in 2012.
