A group of Media Professionals on friday launched the press club of Kashmir.
The Press Club’s prime objectives include to encourage the highest standards of professional integrity and skill in the reporting of news; inculcating the fair values of journalism in the new generation of journalists; looking after the welfare activities of the media fratenity and contributing to expanding the freedom of the Fourth Estate.
An official spokesperson in a statement issued here said with the emerging need of Press club in the valley, the young and senior media persons from Kashmir took the initiative of establishing a press Club of Kashmir. After framing the constitution of the club, the executive members got its registration done in the year 2011.
Since 2011, a number of interactions were held with different international, national and local media personalities. Along with these exclusive interactions were also held with politicians, main stream/separatists, bureaucrats, civil society, corporate houses and trade unions.
All these interactions remained fruitful and above the marked expectations. Today on 22nd of February 2013 under the chairmanship of Mr. Malik Sajid (Secretary General of the club), the executive committee organized an official meeting at his office in Rajbagh.
The meeting highlighted the achievements done by the Press Club of Kashmir in series of campaign done after its registration in the Year 2011. It was further highlighted that every section of the state gave a positive response towards an urgent need of such a Press Club in Kashmir. Later the Secretary General made a formal announcement of its launch.
The club aims to establish better understanding, cooperation and unity among all newspaper publishers and with all key constituents such as consumers, advertisers, print and production agencies, advertising agencies, market research companies and the Government.
The registration process of Press Club membership starts tomorrow at its office.
