Indian Heart Specialists Win American College of Cardiologists Award

(CNS): The Cardiology Department of King George’s Medical University (KGMU) in India added yet another feather to its cap with two of its faculty members being awarded in the same year with the prestigious fellowship of American College of Cardiologists. Dr Rishi Sethi and Dr Sharad Chandra, both Associate Professors in the Cardiology Department at KGMU, were awarded the coveted Fellowship of American College of Cardiologists in its Convocation held in San Francisco on 11th March 2013.

Noted heart specialist Dr Rishi Sethi said to Citizen News Service – CNS in an exclusive interview: “Every year, the American College of Cardiology recognizes selected cardiologists from around the world- based on their long term contribution to the field of cardiology- and inducts them as a Fellow of American College of Cardiology (FACC).”

It is a rare feat indeed for any department to have two of its faculty members be honoured with FACC in the same year and it recognizes that the clinical, academic and research contributions of Dr Rishi Sethi and Dr Sharad Chandra, in the field of cardiology, are at par with the best international standards.

Dr Rishi Sethi was earlier awarded Fellowship of Asia Pacific Society of Intervention Cardiologists (FAPSIC) and a year-long Fellowship in intervention cardiology at World’s renowned Cardiology Centre in National University Singapore.

Dr Sharad Chandra was awarded Fellowship of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions by Washington DC based Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (SCAI) earlier this year. (CNS)
