Vintage Cars Are Still a Safe Investment

There are any number of different investment options available to just about anyone who has $5 these days. With crowdfunding, investing apps, and even virtual currency, there’s just about something for everyone. One investment however that is and has remained pretty solid over the last couple decades is vintage vehicles. They’re popular because they’re not just mere objects to look at, but often a way to drive around in a piece of history. According to the Motor Vehicle Administration, there were 343,238 new vehicles sold in 2016. The numbers were even greater for the used vehicle market, with the amount sold coming in at 753,271. According to these statistics, most people would rather purchase a pre-owned vehicle rather than a new one and that includes the countless vintage vehicles that are found throughout the country still driving around.

Conversation Piece

One of the biggest draws to investing in a vintage vehicle of any kind is the attention it gets. The average new car may offer you speed, power, and prestige, but it does not always offer the chance to strike up a conversation with others. People enjoy talking about antiques and collectibles, but unless someone comes into your home, they are not likely to see it. Driving around in a vintage vehicle is a way to strike up a conversation with the most unlikely of people. Everyone seems to love the old style of vehicles from long ago. They were better built and just have a personality that draws people to them. You may even find that you will meet more car enthusiasts along the way driving their cars as well. The possibilities of who you can meet are endless and there is always something to talk about.

Easy to Store

Some people will shy away from the chance to own a piece of rolling history like a classic vehicle. When asked, it is often a lack of storage that keeps them from pursuing that dream. They may live in apartments with absolutely zero parking garages and therefore nowhere to park the vehicle and keep it protected. Lack of storage space should never keep you from investing in the wide world of vintage vehicles. These days you do not have to have your own garage to have your dream car. Storage facilities are everywhere and whether you live in a small town or are needing Las Vegas self storage, you can find it easily. From the typical outdoor units to the many indoor climate controlled units the possibilities are endless and vintage vehicles are now easier than ever to keep stored and safe for when you want to take them out for a spin and show them off to the world.

Hold Value with Other Collectors

The value of a vehicle is often left up to the banks to decide. They primarily go by the blue book value and therefore will only loan for that amount. Vintage cars do not hold their value in the traditional sense, but that is no reason not to invest in them. Although you may not be able to get a loan for the vehicle, you can find avid collectors looking for that exact vehicle. Popular bidding sites allow collectors from all over the world the chance to bid on vintage vehicles and the prices can get quite high. It is unlikely that you will ever sell a beautiful treasure like a vintage car, but it is nice to know that if you ever need to, the value is held high by collectors.

Take the time to examine the types of vintage cars you like and think about investing in one. The ability to drive your treasure around is an unmatched feeling. These are just a few of the advantages of owning and loving classic vehicles.
