Angry With Obama, Anti-Illegal Immigration Group Shelves ‘Safe Departure’ Idea

Anti-illegal immigration group, Americans for Legal Immigration PAC, had been conducting TV, Radio, and newspaper interviews about the group’s “Safe Departure” proposal for President Obama to allow illegal immigrants to leave the US unhindered at border checkpoints.

Then news of the court ruling on the Arizona law was released, and ALIPAC changed course. In setting up their “Safe Departure” proposal, the group assumed President Obama and his administration were on the side of US citizens and against illegal immigration. Now they believe the Obama administration is against US citizens and pro illegal immigrants.

“There is a sense of extreme anger sweeping America today, in reaction to the news that Obama and US District Judge Susan Bolton thwarted Democracy in America. We are appealing to Americans to remain calm and to channel that anger into sweeping politicians, business leaders, and special interest groups that support Comprehensive Immigration Reform out of power in the elections. ALIPAC stands ready to lead that effort.”

William Gheen, President of Americans For Legal Immigration PAC

Gheen says President Obama and US District Judge Bolton have sided with illegal aliens against the American public, against the will of the American public.

Judge Bolton’s injunction only applies to a few sections of the Arizona law, which the judge said would unfairly burden the federal government and would effectively allow Arizona to set up it’s own immigration law, a federal mandate.

Governor Jan Brewer issued a statement in Phoenix, expressing disappointment in Judge Bolton’s ruling on parts of “The Support Our Law Enforcement and Safe Neighborhoods Act” – SB 1070. Governor Brewer also said she was heartened by some of the Judge’s findings, including the ban on sanctuary cities.

Governor Brewer’s statement included a vow to continue to work to protect the citizens of Arizona.

“This fight is far from over. In fact, it is just the beginning, and at the end of what is certain to be a long legal struggle, Arizona will prevail in its right to protect our citizens. I am deeply grateful for the overwhelming

support we have received from across our nation in our efforts to defend against the failures of the federal government.”

“I have consulted with my legal counsel about our next steps. We will take a close look at every single element Judge Bolton removed from the law, and we will soon file an expedited appeal at the United States Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit.”
