Second Saturday Art Walk in Folsom Commences

Second Saturday Art Walk is a celebration of the senses.

The Art Walk brings together Fine Art from several genres, Fine Music, Fine Wine and refreshments. Combined with a short walk, the collaboration allows art lovers to sample wonderful and interesting ideas, conversation, sights and sounds.

Second Saturday Art Walk is a collaboration between Folsom establishments in the historic district, held regularly on the second Saturday of each month, commencing Saturday July 14th, 2007, from 5pm to 9pm

Beautiful Music features in several spaces, including italian vituoso acoustic guitar at Procissi Cellars, sets of music from the center of France featuring the multi-stringed “Vielle a roue,” guitar and diatonic accordion; and the voice of Sioux poet Luke Warm Water at Pacific Western Traders.

  • Night of international influence with Internationally acclaimed photographer, Billie Jean Redemeyer and The Italian Virtuoso, Peppino D’Agostino at Fike Gallery. Reception from 5pm to 8pm. Location: 627 Sutter Street.
  • Tasting and fine wines within an art gallery at Procissi Cellars. Location: 627 Sutter Street.
  • An artist reception for Craig Martinez and Sioux poet Luke Warm Water at Pacific Western Traders.

    Location: 305 Wool Street just off of Sutter Street

  • The French music stylings of Jeff and Penny at Cloud’s Porcelain. Penny Cloud plays the instrument known in England as the “Hurdy Gurdy,” in France as the “Vielle a roue” or fiddle with a wheel, in Germany as “drelyre” in Italy as “gironda” and Portugal as “synphonia.” G.F. Cloud plays guitar and diatonic accordion. Location: 609 Sutter Street.
  • Champagne reception at Planet Earth Rising featuring designer jewelry by “Earth Stone.” Location: 625 Sutter Street.
  • Sunshine on Sutter Street features Bay Area artist, Eva Szorc with works from her California and Italian Collections. Additional pieces from her collection are to be shown especially for this event. Location: 611 Sutter Street.
  • Melange on Riley serving sweet treats and refreshments. Location, 307 Riley Street, just off Sutter Street.
  • Rainbow Bridge Jeweller has live music and beautiful jewelry. Location, 721 Sutter Street.

    The venue is on and around Sutter Street, Folsom, starting from any point in the 600 or 700 block of Sutter Street.

    Editor’s notes:

    “Vielle a roue” is a 6 to 11 stringed instrument invented in the 10th century, with two or three melody strings (depending on the type) and 5-7 drone strings. Come visit to learn more.
