Lawyers Claim Music

I recently attended a concert, at the Wilshire United Methodist Church, an enchanted evening of music, with soloists, chorus and orchestra, by the Los Angeles Lawyers Philharmonic, under the baton of founder-conductor Gary S. Greene, Esq., and the Legal voices, under Choral direction of Jim Raycroft. The experience convinced me that there is much more to a mean, high fee lawyer, who wants to win his or her case. Actress June Lockhart emceed the evening.

The lawyers Philharmonic and Legal Voices are where lawyers, judges, law students and legal staff meet in harmony, not contention. The conductor/attorney Gary Green founded the orchestra on January 2009 in order to bring the legal community together. Since its inception the Lawyers Philharmonic are in much demand and have performed over 30 concerts. On April 2011, the Legal Voices held their first rehearsal and three months later the chorus debuted with the Lawyers Philharmonic at the Walt Disney Concert Hall.

The chorus and orchestra feature large elections of classical music to Gershwin and Puccini and songs from musicals so, no wonder the Los Angeles Board of Supervisors unanimously proclaimed the Lawyers Philharmonic and Legal Voices as “Los Angles’ only legal orchestra and chorus.”

Gary Greene is an attorney for 37 years, a violinist and conductor who directed the Jr. Philharmonic, which was founded on 1937 by his later uncle Dr. Ernest Katz. Greene also leads America’s No 1 Legal Band, Gary Greene, Esq., and His Big Band of Barristers.

As for the Choral Director Jim Raycroft, a 28-year veteran of the Los Angeles Chorale, who earned his Master’s in voice from the California Institute of the Arts and has performed worldwide. Raycroft owns The Singers Elite, a contracting and referral service for professional singers.

You like music, you want to enjoy quality performance, surprisingly the legal community proves to be well deserved accolades for such performance. I guess behind each lawyer there may be a musical instrument, or a gifted voice and the love of music.

Attend a concert, you will enjoy and be most satisfied. I was.
