Hitmaking Pianist Tom Grant Serves a Musical Feast with Delicioso

Nu-Wrinkle Records is proud to announce the CD release of “Delicioso” (“Dee-lish-e-oso”) by pianist Tom Grant. The single, “Cute New Car,” will be going for adds to radio on August 30.

Since 1983, Tom’s records have repeatedly topped the contemporary jazz charts. Radio fans will remember his previous releases with labels like Windam Hill, Verve, Shanachie. Keyboard Magazine declared, ” he dishes out a pop-flavored jazz that goes down easy and gives discerning listeners plenty to chew on.”

Through the years, several of his songs, including the popular “Mango Tango,” “Night Charade,” “In My Wildest Dreams,” and “The View from Here,” enjoyed lengthy stays at number one. “We now add to our list of all-time favourites one of Tom’s finest selections ever – the aptly named Morning Glorious and the Cafe Jazz absolute #1 most played selection for 2009!! (sic),” said JazzLynx.com in a review about his 2008 release, “Life is Good.”

Tom Grant also made a name for himself early on with his road band as a darling of the critics. The Express News said, “As jazz pianists go, Grant’s style is boldly and uncommonly melodic In short, the man can play.” The San Antonio Light would also add, ” definitely striking the right chord with the record buying public, and at just the right moment.”

A native of Oregon, a state that has produced chart toppers like Chris Botti, Tom embraces a rich entertainment tradition. Born to showbiz parents, the pianist began playing professionally in the 70s and toured and recorded with such jazz greats as Woody Shaw, Joe Henderson, Charles Lloyd and Tony Williams.

As the Pacific Northwest’s most renowned resident musical artist, Tom’s career achievements reflect his unique ability to embrace the full spectrum of contemporary music. From traditional jazz to pop, new age and beyond, Tom Grant is the quintessential voice of music today.

His recent tours of Japan and Indonesia attest to his popularity in Asia. He has been featured on CNN and has been a guest on the “Tonight Show with Jay Leno.”

The pianist’s compositions have also been used in TV and film. Tom primarily focused on documentaries and independent films, as Tom’s touch can add magic to any soundtrack.

The all original songs featured on the new album, “Delicioso,” are a soundscape of radio friendly tracks that infuse memorable hooks with refined arrangements, giving fans the center stage quality they demand from a returning chart-topping recording artist. The supporting cast of the album is a team of power players. From guitarist Marlon McClain (Kenny G, Jeff Lorber, Smokey Robinson and more) to guitarist Dan Faehnle (Diana Krall and Pink Martini), the musicianship on “Delicioso” is a feast for the senses. Like Tom Grant’s previous work, “Delicioso” is destined to be one of the top selections played in 2010.
