Folsom Lake Symphony Orchestra ‘Music of Romance and Passion’ Valentine Pops Concert

The Folsom Lake Symphony Orchestra today announced a Special Valentine’s Evening Pops Concert under the direction of conductor Michael Neumann.

On Saturday, Valentines Day, Maestro Neumann will conduct the orchestra in “Music of Romance and Passion,” featuring famous pieces from movies and the world of popular music.

“We are excited to present an evening of wonderful music, favorites that will delight all ages on this special night.” Included in the concert will be music from “Dr. Zhivago,” “West Side Story” and “The Sound of Music” as well as the theme from “Titanic,” “Meditation from Thais,” “East of Eden,” “Wind Beneath My Wings,” and “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.”

The Folsom Lake Symphony Orchestra has included this special concert in their season to provide an affordable, high quality musical offering to the community on this Valentine’s evening.

Plans for the previously planned Vienna Gala have been put aside for this year, as the symphony stays true to its mission to provide accessible, high quality music to the region.

In the spring, on Saturday, April fourth, the Folsom Lake Symphony Orchestra will present Mendelssohn’s “Symphony no.4” (the “Italian”), and Beethoven’s “Piano Concerto no. 4 in G Major, Op.58, featuring Natsuki Fukasawa on piano. The concert will be complete with a performance of Dvorak’s “‘New World’ Symphony.

“Great Treasures from the Opera” will round out the season in the Jill Solberg Performing Arts Theater with pieces by Verdi, Gounod, Puccini, Massenet, Rossini, and others. The orchestra is pleased to announce the soloists for this performance: Maureen Mette, soprano, Brielle Morgan, mezzo-soprano, Jaeho Lee, tenor, and Stephen Janzen, baritone. The performance date for “Great Treasures from the Opera” will be Saturday, May 23, 2009.
