Replacing a muggy Manhattan afternoon, a cool Jersey shore breeze rolled in along with Anjelia Pelay and her band to the Lower East Side music scene at Joey and Gavin DeGraw’s Music Bar, The National Underground.
With a beautiful voice soft or filled with power and emotion, lovely Anjelia Pelay always moves her audience. Last night was no exception, except the addition of Taylor Hope’s sweet violin accompaniment. As the band gets a feel for the city, Anjelia hopes to perform more often in the Big Apple. Sweet heart, sweet smile, great voice, careful New Jersey, with this girl, New York might try to claim Finders-Keepers.

The National Underground hosts fine “Roots Rock Americana” music with an upstairs and downstairs calendar of events in a comfortable atmosphere, the usual “libations” and a modest, but tasty grill to include barbecued cheeseburgers, chicken, hotdogs and potatoes.

Special Reminder: As you relax and celebrate over the long weekend, perhaps spend time with family and friends, take notice of the grills and homemade dishes from every culture that grace backyards and parks all over the city because there is something important to remember, something that should not, must not, ever be forgotten. This is Memorial Day weekend.
