Arts Express: Funny Forecast For Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs 2

With the summer ushering in all sorts of pretty awful weather, from fires and floods to scorching heat topping one hundred, anything else in the forecast might be a welcome relief. Say, even Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs. Which is exactly what transpired during a uniquely fun-filled afternoon sneak peak preview presentation for that September 27th sequel, Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs 2.

Adapted for the screen from the beloved bestseller by Judi and Ron Barrett, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 is directed by Cody Cameron and Kris Pearn, and written by Erica Rivinoja, John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein. The first Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs release in 2009 concerned the creation of a device capable of turning water into food. But not without ensuing complications, precipitated by inspired inventor, Flint (Bill Hader).

Picking up a mere sixty seconds later in the sequel with a mission to save the world, strange, unanticipated hybrid beasts composed partly of food have emerged, mutant creatures called foodimals. And bearing kooky names like Meatbalrus, Bananostrich Watermelophant and Tacodile Supreme. And many of the stars have returned for the sequel to deliver some more animated food for thought fun once again, including Anna Faris as Sam, Benjamin Bratt as Manny, and James Caan as Tim.

Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs 2 directors Cody Cameron and Kris Pearn were not only on hand to pun it up while introducing the preview footage, but displayed their skills as well afterwards, serving up all sorts of wild tasty snack offerings inspired by the movie. As adults and kids in attendance got an opportunity, with abundant assistance from the filmmakers, to concoct as well as consume their own ‘foodimal’ creation recipes.

Stay tuned for the September release of Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs 2, for more about the magical ingredients of this engaging tale.
