Along the coast of Laguna Beach, there’s a restaurant that has quite the unique setting and unique taste in their food samplings. Located in the shopping center, across from the Montage Resort, the Starfish restaurant has a lush contemporary setting complimented by soft turquoise colors, Asian accents with a vivid sunset scape.
Our culinary journey began with Archie McConnell, the operating partner of Starfish who was with P.F. Chang’s for many years. So Archie, who is a really dynamic person, knows where of he speaks. He presented some wonderful appetizers which were the Korean Kalbi Tacos, served with baby greens, carrot, daikon, cucumbers in a sesame vinaigrette. Other appetizers included the Lobster Macadamia rolls, and the Singapore Bamboo Roll.
The Lobster Macadamia roll prepared with lobster, avocado, mango, cucumber, cilantro, roasted macadamia nuts in a soy paper sriracha roll is a joy. The Singapore Bamboo Roll has marinated bamboo, carrot, jicama, cilantro, thai basil, served with sriracha peanut house sauce.
Main Entree
An award winning dish, the Thai Basil Banana Leaf Sea Bass is served in a banana leaf, sauteed with green beans, atop lemongrass rice, in a thai basil green curry sauce. An incredible dish indeed. This was a most tempting dish for me.
My guest enjoyed the Pad Thai, which consist of rice noodles,egg, green onion, carrot, bean sprouts, cilantro, tamarind and peanuts.
Desert
There’s a mouth-watering array of homemade deserts with homemade ice cream. I enjoyed the pastry with vanilla ice cream.
