“Time Guards” Madonna And Sisters On Tour In Venice
This year, Manfred Kielnhofer’s light art project “Time Guards,” is on tour in beautiful Venice.
Kielnhofer’s “Guards of Time” are protectors. His concept is that since the beginning of time mankind has had protectors, for historic and mystical reasons. The protectors are mainly needed because only man himself is a potential source of danger for his own existence.
Manfred Kielnhofer’s artwork deals with our natural human desire for security. His oeuvre reflects genuine exploration, consideration and discussion of current and historic moods and sensibilities in his social environment.
The “Guards of Time” never fail to captivate and capture the attention of all, by using elaborate combinations of light and different technique.
In early August this year, Kielnhofer was part of the Art Stays 2011 project in Slovenski Square, Ptuj, the oldest town in Slovenia. Their aim was to awaken life in the sleepy old town. Each night, the time guards helped Ptuj to shine under the glow of many light installations.
Manfred Kielnhofer, born in Haslach an der Muhl, Austria, is self-taught and works with many different mediums, including painting, film, photography, installation, performance and sculpture.
Many of Kielnhofer’s installations show the human figure, expressing different shapes, forms, often in sculpture. There is often movement, and the focus is mainly on the peculiarities of our human nature.
