Robert DeNiro Could Be Making Another ‘Midnight Run’

Like Arnold Schwarzenegger in Twins, Robert DeNiro successfully branched into comedy in 1988 with Midnight Run.

Now, Universal is also developing another sequel with Oscar winner DeNiro reprising his role as ex-Chicago cop turned bounty hunter Jack Walsh. In the original, Walsh was hired to take an accountant known as “The Duke” (Charles Grodin) from Los Angeles to New York in under five days. Both men must deal with the mob and the FBI, as a friendship slowly develops between the two.

Midnight Run‘s critical and box office success led to a series of made-for-TV movies in 1994 as part of Universal Television’s Action Pack with actor Christopher McDonald succeeding DeNiro in the role of Walsh.

Brett Ratner, best known for the hugely popular Rush Hour films with Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker, has already signed on as director.
