Jade, a Film About Human Trafficking, Uses Indiegogo To Raise Funds

“Jade” is a fictional story about a young girl building her life after escaping human trafficking. It is the first feature film for Heads or Tales Productions, a new filmmaking group in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Currently in pre-production, “Jade” is written and directed by Jess V. Carson, and produced by Jennifer Mazzacane. The crew are passionate about their opposition to human trafficking and they are advocates against it.

The story follows the title character, Jade, beginning the morning after her escape from captivity. Hoping to start a new life, we follow her in the rebuilding process as she learns to trust for the first time. With intense flashbacks into her past, the audience will see the horrors endured by Jade on a daily basis, horrors that are a reality in today’s society, no matter how covered up they may be.

The cast will have seven members

Funding The Production

An Indiegogo Campaign is being used to raise funds for the film, with 49 days still remaining, at the time of writing. See Jade The Movie to see how fundraising is progressing, or to contribute. Indiegogo is a platform that allows anyone with a project idea to describe how much money they need, and what it will be used for, and then connect with people willing to provide the funds.

Funding for “Jade” is only $2700, to pay:

  • Payment for the four main roles
  • Meals for the cast and crew
  • Post-production expenses
  • Film festival entry fees
  • Props and wardrobe
  • Supplies needed by crew members.

    Auditions And Shooting

Auditions begin Sunday, July 15, 2012 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. For more details about auditioning, email Jess V. Carson at jess@reelarkansas.com

Shooting is scheduled to begin in September 2012 in Little Rock, Arkansas. The principals are in talks to partner with local groups dealing with the fight against human trafficking.

    Bands And Music

Jess Carson says music will give this film the feel they are aiming for, and five local bands are so enthusiastic about contributing, they have offered tracks for the film.

The local bands include “Townsend,” contributing an original song called “Black and Grey,” and the “Wes Burnett Band” is to contribute as yet unnamed original music.

“The Monastics,” a Little Rock alternative rock/punk trio, will appeal to fans of Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Descendents, Fugazi or Black Flag, with commanding lead vocals, sincere lyrics, smooth bass lines and hard-driving drums.

“Don’t Stop Please,” a six piece folk rock band that draws heavily from jazz influences has offered two tracks, “Long List of Numbers” and “Antithesis.”
