Folsom Historical Society Plans 10th Annual Antique Evaluation Day

Historic Sutter Street, Folsom. On Saturday, October 6, antiques enthusiasts are invited to bring family treasures and garage sale finds for informal evaluation and identification during the 10th Annual Antique Evaluation Day on Sutter Street in Folsom.

An impressive team of volunteer appraisers, representing antique merchants of Sutter Street and visiting specialists, offer collectors a unique opportunity to learn more about their antiques and collectibles. Appraisers draw on years of experience in providing an estimate of current market value as well as a verbal identification and evaluation of pieces.

This year’s staff of appraisers includes: Randall Abbott, Jim and Karen Alkons, Ken and Michele Cemo, Gary Cox, Robert Flaherty, Ron Lerch, Dawn Licker, Marshall Martin, Nick Nicholson, Roman Olenyik, Herb and Courtney Puffer, Rudy Schafer, Greg Tracy, and Patty Warren.

Areas of expertise include: Advertising Art; American & European Furniture; Dolls & Doll Furniture; Ephemera (Books, Photos, Postcards, & Stock Certificates); Fine Art (Paintings, Prints & Watercolors); Fine & Costume Jewelry; Glass, China, Pottery & Porcelains; Gold & Silver; Stringed Instruments; Orientalia (Asian Art & Antiques); Period Pieces (American Indian, Art Deco, Civil War, Gold Rush, Historical Aviation, Fire Arms & Weapons); Sterling Silver & Silverplate; Textiles (Vintage Clothing, Hats, Quilts, & Needlework); and Watches.

Evaluation day

The Folsom Historical Society’s 10th Annual Antique Evaluation Day takes place at the Folsom History Museum with registration from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (sorry, no advance sign ups.) A donation of $8.00 per item or $35.00 for five items benefits the Museum.

There is no limit on the number of items that may be presented for evaluation. Photographs with dimensions of oversized items may be submitted for evaluation. Experienced volunteers ensure that collectors are promptly helped. Parking is free.
