Australian Direct Marketing Association Global Forum
Australian Direct Marketing Association (ADMA) Global Forum is a two-day event being held in Sydney. Aside from a forum program featuring tech and media industry speakers, ADMA showcases products like Audio-Visual Communication, Photography, Print and Electronic Media, Signage, Point of Purchase, Promotional Material, Outdoor Advertising, Computers, Photography/Film/Video, Printing/Packaging/Design, Print and Electronic Media etc. in the Media & Advertising industry.
Over two days ADMA’s program lists several global themed keynote addresses that will be given. On opening day, August 10, Walter Levitt, CMO, Comedy Central, speaks on, “Comedy Central – building a multi-channel, multi-platform brand for Millennials.” Other global keynote addresses include, Akshay Manikantan, Landmark Group, on The evolution of digital; Florian Gschwandtner, CEO Runtastic, on “Put people first”; Ian Dewar, The North Face, on “The jacket you didn’t know you needed”; Cynthia Round, VP Marketing, Metropolitan Museum of Art, on “Can we make our museums irresistible”; Michael Goldberg, Creative Director, Victoria’s Secret, on “Great storytelling that means business”; Ben Edwards, VP, PayPal, on “Harnessing digital disruption: A practitioner’s guide.”
Besides the ADMA Global Keynotes there are also Local Keynote addresses. On both Forum days there is an afternoon content track, technology track and creativity track. There is a Delegate Breakfast, lunch, morning tea, afternoon tea and networking drinks to end the sessions on both days. The Association for Data-driven Marketing and Advertising (ADMA) is the largest marketing and advertising association in Australia and is the principal industry body for data-driven marketing and advertising.
Tecnomultimedia InfoComm Mexico
Tecnomultimedia InfoComm Mexico is a three-day expo situated in Benito Juarez, focused on integration solutions of audio, video and lighting; digital signage and home automation. Expo organizer, InfoComm International is the trade association representing the professional audiovisual information communication industry worldwide. As a Standards Development Organization (SDO) accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), InfoComm offers industry standards as the basis for audiovisual quality systems. InfoComm also produces trade shows in Asia, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East as well as GovComm, an annual trade show in Washington, DC. In the opening day agenda, German Robles, COO at Digital Signage and Displays, starts the Digital Signage Conference Technical Trade Show on August 10, discussing “Basic Digital Signage.”
In the Technical Trade Talks segment of the program, several topics will be introduced related to the advancements in video streaming. The Future of Systems Integration Unified Communications Collaboration reviews UC and C systems (Unified Communications and Collaboration). Including the integration of audiovisual rooms containing high quality items with Soft Codecs (Skype, Lync, Jabber, Webex) and the trend of BYOD (Bring Your Own Device). Experiential Marketing will explain how advances in technology, content production and science of marketing are used to increase the effectiveness and efficiency through experiences in retail and new media. Streaming and IP Video Trends will delve into the fundamentals of streaming and video over IP networks, as an alternative, to deliver content to users through screens, computers and mobile devices. Several segments on acoustics will press topic areas such as, The Three Basic Acoustical Problems, Outdoor Audio Solution In An Acoustic Shell, Getting The Right Sound For Collaboration Rooms and other topics that will be added to the program.
Hollyshorts Film Festival
From Hollywood, Hollyshorts Film Festival’s August 11 Opening Night Screening will be hosted by Ben Lyons and Alicia Malone. The opening feature will be ‘Blood Moon,’ directed by Kenneth Kokin. At the opening event, a 2016 Trailblazer Award will be presented by Women in Film to Jennifer Morrison and an Opening Night After Party will be at OHM Nightclub. Hollyshorts’ planned August 12 Adult Animation Program selections include: Bear Story the 2016 Oscar winning animated short film from Chilean Director Gabriel Osorio, Festival Du Cannes Official Selection, Man O Man, from Simon Cartwright (UK). The Cannes Film Festival Palm D’or winner from Lebanese Director Ely Dagher, Waves 98, is also in competition in the block. HollyShort’s Visual Effects Sci Fi program takes place on August 14, while the The Fantasy Sci Fi Program is on August 15 followed by it’s Music Video Program.
A principal part of the week-long HollyShorts Film Festival, the HollyShorts Conference presents on stage thought leaders and innovators from the industry including, Film LA, Stage 32, Evil Slave, Final Draft, Slated, Daily Motion, Zype, indi.com, Dream Team Directors and the Los Angeles Music Video Festival. Hollyshorts’ program will offer insight into creating, producing and distributing film projects in the ever-changing media landscape through informative panel discussions. mentoring sessions and networking opportunities. Nightly Panel Parties include a hosted bar from Dark Horse Wines, Peroni beers and Deep Eddy Vodka.
In the conference segment of the festival, Stage 32 will introduce an August 12 panel to the Hollyshorts Film Festival that focuses on how to use a short film as a proof of concept and what you can do as a filmmaker to get noticed. The dialogue will survey the current market for short films, produce case studies of successful short films and the various strategies for exposure including platforms like Vimeo, Stage 32, Youtube and social media like Twitter, Instagram and more. To sketch a blueprint to the longer feature project, the session looks at what makes a great, marketable short and how to leverage that into longer form projects. Another conference theme no August 13 will be, Begging, Borrowing, and Bartering, the Secrets to Producing on a Micro-Budget. Transitioning From Film and TV to The Digital World is a conference theme offered on August 14.
Pennsylvania Music Expo
Keystone Record Collectors, Inc., will present the Pennsylvania Music Expo, a one day event in Lancaster suited to vinyl record collectors and audiophile. Exhibitors will showcase memorable music CD, dvd, cassettes, vintage music collections, to that of collector edition associated with this field. This free show set for August 12 is hosted by the Keystone Record Collectors, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the cause of the hobby of music collecting. Attending groups of people to this monthly expo are generally ready to buy, sell or trade music and music-related memorabilia. Impromptu group/artist autograph sessions and mini concerts can happen at various times during the show. Keystone Record Collectors, a non-profit club, is dedicated to the promotion and advancement of the hobby of music collecting.” It was organized by collectors, for collectors, with the express purpose of providing a way for music collectors to obtain knowledge about their hobby and to increase their personal collections in their specific area(s) of interest.
Vinylbank Record And CD Fairs
For those across the Atlantic, Vinylbank operates vinyl record and CD Fairs for the South Midlands located in Banbury, Cheltenham, Coventry, Leamington Spa, Stratford-upon-Avon and Rugby. The August 29 fair will be situated in Statford-Upon-Avon. Established since 1985, there is to be found a varied selection with music ranging from, blues, soul, folk, 50’s, 60’s, jazz etc., all the way to present day rock, metal, indie, dance, pop, punk. All formats including new and chart CD’s, DVD’s, CD singles, memorabillia, 7″ 12″ and LP vinyl records — rare, bargain and retro catalog. Memorabilia, DVDs (films, music and TV related DVDs), a selection of music books and other audiophile related goods are generally available. Admission into the Vinylbank Record and CD Fairs is free.
SET Expo 2016
Rio De Janeiro may play host to the 2016 Olympic Games but Sao Paulo will be the setting for SET Expo 2016 opening toward the end of August. This future-of-media oriented expo will present and discuss technical innovations, regulations and new products in the audiovisual market, comprehensively covering the production chain from creation through to distribution. SET Expo’s conference sessions will spotlight standard practices on how to manage, produce, transmit and distribute multimedia electronic content while debating the current standards and regulations with a nod toward the current and future scenario for telecommunications. The accompanying trade show will serve as the platform for domestic and international manufacturers to showcase their products to an audience representing the spectrum of the audiovisual and broadcasting production chain.
Referred to simply as the “SET,” the four-day expo that begins August 29 will have four active Working Groups of the SET aimed at technical development of broadcasting and electronic media in Brazil. The groups are: Radio, Spectrum, New Media and Accessibility. SET has cooperation and partnership agreements with about 20 national organizations working in the electronic media and broadcasting market. Among them are ABERT the Abratel, the AERP, the PEA, the AERJ the ASTRAL, the Sindivel and many others. Internationally, the SET has partnerships with IABM, the NAB, Inter BEE and the W3C.
Stephen Smith, Chief Technology Officer, Imagine Communications, delivers the conference keynote, August 29, on Sensoring and Big Data. Other participants will include Philippe Mendez, Co-Founder, Mediatree Group; Thomas Wolf, Global VP of Strategy, Innovation and Retail, British Telecom, and Moderator Rodrigo Arnaut, ERA Transmidia. The technology conference framework is built upon a varied array of future media topics. Echo Society “V”
The Echo Society is a Los Angeles based collective of like-minded composers, musicians and artists who gather together to share new sonic and visual art. Bringing into play it’s largest ensemble of musicians to date, the Echo Society presents its fifth event, “V,” in Downtown Los Angeles, on August 31. For this event, the collective will be joined both in performance and composition by British artist, The Haxan Cloak, known for collaborations with Björk and HEALTH; critically acclaimed Chelsea Wolfe; BAFTA nominated composer and recording artist Chris Clark and contemporary classical composer Ted Hearne whose commissions include works for the Los Angeles Philharmonic, The Chicago Symphony Orchestra and elsewhere. In addition to video installation by collaborator EFFIXX, the lighting will be designed by designer Tobias Rylander.
Founded in 2013, The Echo Society’s shows bring orchestral and electronic music to new audiences through immersive experiences manifested through performance of new sonic and visual art. The Echo Society is: Judson Crane, Deru (Benjamin Wynn), ESKMO (Brendan Angelides), Nathan Johnson, Rob Simonsen, Joseph Trapanese and Jeremy Zuckerman. Their film collective film credits include Foxcatcher, Straight Outta Compton, TRON: Legacy, Avatar: The Last Airbender, BRICK, Don Jon, The Divergent Series, (500) Days of Summer and many many more. Its members have won multiple Emmy Awards and together form a unit that specializes in the immersive experience of music. Its this expertise and craft that make The Echo Society performances such an emotional and inspiring experience. Their program features music by ASCAP composers Judson Crane, ESKMO, Nathan Johnson and Joseph Trapanese with special ASCAP guests Ted Hearne and Chelsea Wolfe.
The Internationale Tanzmesse NRW
The Internationale Tanzmesse NRW is a gathering with an exclusive focus for contemporary dance that meets every two years, generally at the end of August, in Düsseldorf. This year presentations happen over four days beginning August 31. Tanzmesse is a program comprised of three main parts. Debates and information sessions review industry topics and make it possible for participants to network in smaller groups on specific and practical topics. Performance programming presents fully produced performances chosen from proposals submitted by artists. Exhibition Halls of the Tanzmesse enclose various companies, artists, local governments and agencies that represent different aspects of the industry.
Tanzmesse’S T-Talks programming will focus on topics of interest to the international dance community and are developed in partnership with Tanzmesse artistic participants. Topics up for discussion include: Dance in public places in the Euro-Mediterranean, Contemporary Dance in Central and Eastern Europe, Representing Difference: the aesthetics and politics of presenting different bodies on stage, New Theaters and Festivals for Dance in Asia, an Exploration of Mapping Contemporary Dance Resources in Europe, and other topics. The debates and information sessions present opportunities for Tanzmesse participants to network in smaller groups on specific and practical topics.
The Open Studios segment at Tanzmesse will serve as a platform for the dance companies to share insight in their previous work as well as a preview of their future productions. This format is structured as a platform for new information and artist networking. A new format within the Open Studios are the Focus Forums. The Focus Forums’ purpose is to offer an overview of the dance field in certain countries and their artists. Underscoring this new format, Southern Italian Focus Forum will present the Italian Mezzogiorno’s tradition of cultural experimentation on September 1 and for September 2, UK Focus Forum hosts artists and producers from the UK to explore women in choreography and dance, their contribution to knowledge development and creation of new ideas and practices.
