AABoomers.com Celebrates Second AAniversary With Tribute to Teddy Pendergrass

AABoomers.com, the on-line magazine for and about African American Baby Boomers celebrates its second anniversary this month, with a new look, new contributors, and a tribute to music icon, Teddy Pendergrass.

“We were deeply saddened by the loss of Teddy last month, and wanted to recognize his contribution to the to music in general, and the lives of African American Baby Boomers in the 1970’s,” said AABoomer.com Publisher, Lois-Ann Clark. “His ‘ladies only’ concerts were legendary, and his music set the mood for many a romantic interlude.”

In honor of Black History Month, AABoomers.com presents articles that address concerns within our community, and welcomes Enola Arid and Kam Williams to the AABoomer family as contributors.

Ms. Arid’s article appears on the Topic of The Day page, and introduces readers to the “Myth of Black Inferiority”, and the Community Healing Network (CHN) whose goal it is to work toward the elimination of the lingering sense of inferiority among young people which persists today, even in the Age of Obama.

AABoomers.com will partner with the Community Healing Network to promote the National Day of Healing in October. “We are excited about working with CHN in this important cause,” says Clark.

Freelance writer Kam Williams joins the team this month as a contributor with his review of “Sugar of the Crop”, a book by Sana Butler about the children and grandchildren of slaves…

This month’s issue also includes the second in a series of three articles about Thomaslind Polite, a direct descendant of an eight year old captive from Sierra Leone who was enslaved in the United States.

In addition, they present a Marshall Plan for Haiti, by Dr. Ron Daniels of the Institute of the Black World, as well as an article by Darius Thompson, entitled: Obama, Michael Jackson, Tiger Woods, and Saving Black Boys.

“We are excited about our new format and partners, and feel blessed to have been able to bring this vehicle to African American Baby Boomers for two years”, Clark said. “Our demographic of 9.1 million has the spending power of over $300 billion, yet is often overlooked in the literature on Baby Boomers. We look forward to continue bringing information to our readers ‘for and about us,’ for many years to come.”
