Google Stopped Using Windows

Google has stopped new employees from requesting Windows PCs, The Financial Times reported, but they can get Mac or Linux systems.

It has been a practice of Google to let employees pick the operating system of their choice.

Google’s engineering driven society and testing needs meant some employees wanted to work with Windows.

An attack on Windows, Internet Explorer 6, ended with Google’s property being stolen last year, and it didn’t help the ripple effect of dissatisfaction.

Google started pointing employees to Chrome OS systems, Eric Schmidt-Google CEO explained in a seminar. Google leans toward browser based operating systems, because they are more secure. If an employee wants to use Windows now, they must get permission per reports.
