UVA LIDKÖPING CNC North Deal Strengthens US Precision Grinding Support

UVA LIDKÖPING CNC North acquisition puts Swedish precision grinding and US rebuild expertise under one owner for North American customers.

The Swedish grinding specialist, part of Dacke Industri, bought 100 percent of CNC North on 5 February 2024. The move extends UVA LIDKÖPING’s footprint in the US and builds out regional support for users of high-precision grinding machines.

CNC North stays based in New Hampshire and continues operating under its own name as a subsidiary within UVA LIDKÖPING.

Dacke Industri, which also recently acquired Milan-based Blink S.r.l., a CANbus keypads specialist, continues to build its portfolio of niche engineering businesses.

Watch a 1-minute explainer of the UVA LIDKÖPING–CNC North deal here:

UVA LIDKÖPING CNC North Move Unites Rebuild and New Machine Capability

UVA LIDKÖPING is a global supplier of high-precision grinding machines, with more than 120 years of experience and over 10,000 machines installed worldwide. Its machines serve fuel injection, bearing and automotive applications where tight tolerances are critical.

The company designs, builds and installs grinding machines under the UVA and LIDKÖPING brands. Its main manufacturing site and headquarters sit in Lidköping, Sweden, supported by offices and subsidiaries in Europe, the US, China and India.

CNC North built its reputation by remanufacturing Bryant Lectraline and Ultraline grinding machines to original specifications. Two of its original three owners brought more than 40 years of experience designing and building Bryant grinders.

Over time, CNC North added upgrades, controls modernisation and new machine designs. In 2008 it introduced its own internal “strut grinder” for the aeronautics industry, built on a solid granite base with a proprietary hydrostatic slide design.

The UVA LIDKÖPING CNC North acquisition brings new build and rebuild capability into one structure. North American manufacturers that run Bryant and other high-precision grinding equipment can now source machine supply, remanufactures and upgrades within the same industrial group.

North American Grinding Customers Gain Closer Factory-backed Support

For existing CNC North customers, the ownership change aims to secure long-term backing rather than alter day-to-day contact. CNC North’s team continues to handle rebuilds, retrofits and service from New Hampshire.

For UVA LIDKÖPING, the deal strengthens its regional service segment in North America. The company has stated that enhancing local support is a key reason for bringing CNC North into the group.

Combining UVA LIDKÖPING’s machine portfolio with CNC North’s rebuild and enhancement work creates a broader lifecycle offer. Users can extend the life of installed grinding machines, modernise controls and, when needed, move to new machines with support from linked engineering teams.

In industries such as aerospace, bearings and automotive, where grinding accuracy affects safety and performance, stable support for critical production equipment is central to investment decisions. The deal positions the group to offer that support closer to customers’ plants.

Dacke Industri Continues Targeted Growth in Specialist Engineering

Dacke Industri is a Swedish industrial group that invests in innovative technology companies in selected niches. It follows a decentralised model, where subsidiaries keep a high degree of autonomy while the owner provides capital, strategic direction and a long-term view.

The group became owner of UVA LIDKÖPING in 2017, when the former KMT Precision Grinding operations were folded into Dacke Industri under the combined UVA LIDKÖPING name.

Today Dacke Industri counts dozens of subsidiaries across four divisions, with operations in Europe, North America and Asia and total net sales in the multi-billion-krona range. Its companies focus on their own products or systems, strong in-house development and quality execution.

The UVA LIDKÖPING CNC North acquisition fits that pattern. It adds a specialist US engineering business with its own products and deep platform knowledge into a grinding-focused division anchored in Sweden.

For North American manufacturers that rely on Bryant and other high-precision grinding machines, the combined group offers a clearer line of sight to long-term support, rebuilds and new equipment under Dacke Industri’s ownership.
