Dacke Industri Hydronit S.r.l. Acquisition Expands Modular Hydraulics in Europe

Hydronit S.r.l. acquisition extends Dacke Industri‘s reach in modular hydraulic power units and strengthens its European footprint in fluid power.

On 18 November 2025, the Swedish industrial group bought 70 percent of Hydronit S.r.l., an Italian company that develops and manufactures modular hydraulic power units for mobile, industrial and marine applications. The current owner keeps the remaining 30 percent.

Dacke Industri says the Hydronit S.r.l. acquisition marks a strategic step in its European expansion and broadens its portfolio of power transmission, motion and control solutions. Hydronit will join the group’s Fluid Power Technology division.

Hydronit S.r.l. Acquisition Adds Modular and Smart Hydraulic Power Units

Hydronit S.r.l., based in Varedo about 20 kilometres north of Milan, designs and builds modular hydraulic power units. Its systems serve mobile equipment, industrial machinery and marine applications where compact, configurable hydraulics matter.

The company also offers patented Smart Power Units with an embedded programmable logic controller, sensors, PWM power output and IoT capabilities. Those units bring digital control, monitoring and connectivity into compact hydraulic packs.

Hydronit supports customers from concept through to production of key hydraulic components. That work includes design, development and manufacture of the power unit itself.

The business operates subsidiaries in Suzhou in China and in Malmesbury in Wiltshire in the UK, plus an associated company on the east coast of the United States. Hydronit employs around 30 people and reports annual turnover of about EUR 9 million.

“Being part of a focused multinational group meets our expectations to grow as a major player in compact and smart hydraulics worldwide,” says Hydronit CEO and co-owner Andrea Gambusera.

Hydronit Joins Dacke’s Fluid Power Technology Division

Dacke Industri places Hydronit into its Fluid Power Technology division, which concentrates on hydraulic and motion solutions. The group expects Hydronit’s modular hydraulic power units and smart hydraulic packs to complement existing products and engineering capabilities in that division.

“We are pleased to welcome Hydronit S.r.l. to our group as we continue our strategic expansion across Europe,” says Mikael Lundgren, President Fluid Power Technology at Dacke Industri and Chairman of Hydronit S.r.l.

He says that by drawing on expertise and collaboration within the division, the acquisition should let the group deliver greater value to customers and support future growth. A detailed understanding of the customer landscape and existing strengths will guide that work.

Hydronit’s locations in Italy, China, the UK and the US also extend the geographic reach of Dacke’s fluid power activities, putting modular hydraulic power packs closer to OEMs in multiple regions.

Long-term Owner Deepens Niche Technology Portfolio

Dacke Industri describes itself as a long-term owner that invests in innovative technology companies in selected niches. It focuses on businesses with their own products or systems, strong technical content, development and design expertise, and high-quality execution.

The group follows a decentralised model. Subsidiaries keep a high degree of autonomy and run their own operations, while the owner provides capital, strategic guidance and a long-term perspective. Companies in the group also aim for environmentally sustainable products and production.

Dacke Industri, owned by Nordstjernan since 2016, now counts around 30 subsidiaries in four divisions, about 1,800 employees worldwide and net sales of about SEK 4.8 billion.

The Hydronit S.r.l. acquisition continues Dacke Industri’s pattern of targeted investments in specialist European technology firms, including earlier deals for Blink’s CANbus keypads in Italy and UVA LIDKÖPING’s CNC North grinding support in the US. It adds a compact and smart hydraulics provider with patented modular power units into the Fluid Power Technology division, alongside other motion and control businesses.

For customers that rely on modular hydraulic power units in mobile equipment, industrial machinery or marine systems, the Hydronit S.r.l. acquisition offers a supplier backed by a larger industrial owner, with scope for further development of smart and connected hydraulics under Dacke Industri’s long-term ownership.
