When a bird quacks, most people can tell that it is a duck. Congress and The White House often seem to be unable to tell that it is a duck. On Wednesday, the Senate Intelligence Committee showed they are capable of discerning when a duck is a duck. In their final report into the deadly Sept. 11, 2012 attack by “militants” on U.S. government buildings in Benghazi, Libya, they came to the conclusion it was due to inadequate security by the State Department.
Where does the buck stop in this case of lack of protection for U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens and his aides? It should be with the Secretary of State, Hillary Rodham Clinton, now (in)famous for her insensitive quote “What difference, at this point, does it make?”
Prior to the militant attack, U.S. intelligence agencies had issued many warnings.
According to the committee, The State Department “failed to increase security enough to address the threat, even though the U.S. diplomatic post in Benghazi had suffered two earlier, but less damaging, attacks during the previous six months.”
Recap Of What Happened
Here is a recap of what happened in Benghazi on Sept. 11, 2012, a date that should resonate with people all over the world, especially with the U.S. government and security agencies. It was the anniversary of 9/11. There were many warnings. Internally, the Benghazi mission was asking for protection. The security group was being moved elsewhere, and they were asking not to be moved because of what might happen. Then the inevitable happened, “militants” launched a planned attack on the lightly protected U.S. diplomatic compound in Benghazi and a CIA base three blocks away. Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans were killed.
For the last 17 months, the incident has been ignored, obfuscated and covered up by The White House and the Department of State, because it was in the run-up to the 2012 election.
President Obama attempted to downplay the event as best he could, Republicans screamed to the mainstream media that the motive presented to the American people that it was an anti-Muslim video, was ridiculous. The Obama Administration sent out Ambassador Susan Rice to feed a pack of lies to the media and the American people.
The Report Is Incomplete
Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) said, “Throughout this investigation, the Obama administration was more of a roadblock than a contributor to committee efforts to look into the root cause of these attacks. This is especially troubling given that no one at the State Department, which has direct responsibility for the safety of U.S. diplomatic posts overseas, has been held accountable.”
Rubio continued, “Despite many promises of ensuring justice for those behind this attack, that has not happened. This complete absence of accountability is unacceptable, and it is my hope that this administration will finally commit the intelligence, diplomatic and military resources to bring those responsible for these attacks to justice.”
North Carolina Sen. Richard Burr said the Senate Intelligence Committee report is incomplete.
In a follow-up statement to Rubio, Sen. Burr said, “This bipartisan report is a step forward in our understanding of these events, but should not by any means be viewed as a final verdict. To the extent this report is incomplete, it is not due to the Committee’s unwillingness to investigate, but the State Department’s intransigence. It is our obligation and duty to continue to ask probing questions and investigate all details as they continue to come to light – as they invariably will.”
The committee found no evidence that U.S. spy agencies or the State Department had received any warnings the day of the attack. The CIA and State Department had both sent “general warning notices to facilities worldwide” about possible attacks on the anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, al-Qaeda attacks on the United States.
The CIA fully cooperated with the Senate Intelligence Committee and will “examine the committee’s recommendations pertaining to agency practices and procedures.”

As expected, there was no comment at all from the normally garrulous White House, President Obama, Hillary Clinton or former UN Ambassador Susan Rice, who went to all the mainstream media peddling a story that the attack was a muslim response to a video attacking their prophet.
