Hugh Laurie will no longer be on call, as he, House creator David Shore and executive producer Katie Jacobs issued a joint statement Wednesday that the medical mystery-drama will come to an end in May after eight successful years on FOX.
Since 2004, Gregory House has been the doctor we all loved to hate yet hate to loved: a rule-breaking, pill-popping, manipulative, miserable, cynical, sarcastic jerk of a genius who’s always right. Why? Because everybody lies, according to House, who is both the classic narcissist and anti-hero who loves to find fault in others, but unwilling to look at his own. Why? Because he’s in pain.
House made English actor Laurie into a household name and unlikely sex symbol in America, as well as one of the highest-paid actors on television – earning him two Golden Globe Awards and several Emmy nominations. The show also launched the career of Olivia Wilde when she joined the cast in 2007 as hot bisexual Dr. Remy “Thirteen” Hadley. She made her final appearance last October in the episode “Charity Case”, but reports are stating that the actress may come back for the finale.
At this time, there are no official statements on how the show will end, which will be May 21.
