New Hampshire Women’s Volleyball Recruits in Michigan

Women’s Volleyball Recruits

Maddie Lightfoot, the 5’4″ senior defensive specialist (libero), for the Clarkston High School girl’s volleyball team is hoping for lightning in a bottle. With Districts starting in the Michigan High School Athletic Association this week, she is set to run with her mom’s experience. The Women’s Volleyball recruits are ready to go.

In 1984 mom, Kristie, played on the Flint Kearsley Class ‘A’ Champs. “That was a great bonding time and most of the team kept on playing,” said mother Kristie.

That Kearsley team coached by Jo Lake, had a lot of depth with Jeanine Dickinson-Stark, Maureen Shaheen-Fitzgerald, Karen Histed and Dee Fisher-Weaver.

Debbie Miele and Heather Lake also went on to some college volleyball pedigree.

Veteran Clarkston High School coach Kelly Averall had a Regional winner in 2010. Clarkston won their third straight Oakland Activities Association Red Division title with a 3-0 night against Birmingham Seaholm recently.

Lightfoot kept Seaholm at bay with 25 digs in the last match. Afterwards Coach Averall said, “Madison did an excellent job for us tonight. She really anchored the back row, and I think that was why we looked so good. Our defense plays so well behind our hitters.”

Maddie with a 3.7 GPA has already chosen to continue volleyball at New Hampshire. “I fell in love with the campus during my sight visit,” said the team co-captain. “It will be up to Stephanie Marani and I to lend some leadership, starting with the Districts,” added the team sparkplug.

New Hampshire coach Jill Hirschinger has reached into Michigan before, recruiting junior Jansan Falcusan from Plymouth Salem and sophomore Destiny Tolliver of Rochester Hills and Notre Dame Prep. Maddie was showcased mostly from travel league play with Rochester Legacy during the summer.

The Women’s Volleyball recruits are firing on all cylinders.
