Somali Football Family
Members of the Somali Football Family gathered in Mogadishu on Friday evening, filling the air with cheerfulness and pride as community members celebrate the country’s growing football development.
The event brought together football enthusiasts, government ministers, parliament members, business companies, football club presidents and members of Somali women’s national football squad [Ocean Queens], all united in their support for the Somali Football Federation and its president, Ali Abdi Mohamed.

The gathering praised the president for his commitment towards women’s football in Somalia, as the country now has its first ever women’s national team and a national league for women became a successful endeavor in the country.
The colorful event was a testament to the strong bond between Somali Football Federation and the football community in Somalia.
The theme of the gathering was “THANK YOU MR. PRESIDENT“ as a symbol of appreciation of his efforts towards football development in Somalia.
The gathering congratulated SFF president, Ali Abdi Mohamed, who was recently elected as the senior vice president of the Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations [CECAFA] for his amazing achievement.
As he addressed at the event, SFF president, expressed his gratitude towards the unwavering support of the football community and acknowledged their role in the country’s football progress.
“I thank the football family members for organizing this amazing event. Such a gathering shows the unity and love Somali people have for football. I am proud to have all of you standing by us, as we jointly work towards a brighter future for Somali football” president, Ali Abdi Mohamed, told the football enthusiasts in attendance.

A Night of Appreciation and Jubilation
One of the main objectives of the event was to appreciate president Ali Abdi Mohamed’s efforts to promote women’s football in Somalia, a country where the sport once considered as taboo for women.
Participants extolled the president’s unprecedented moves to get Somali women’s football on track. “I am very proud of the progress we have made so far. This wouldn’t have been possible without the support and encouragement from the football community and our partners” the president told a gathering.
Members of Somali women’s national team [Ocean Queens] and the head of women’s football department, Ibtisam Yasin, were seen at the gathering as they dressed in the colorful Islamic dress for women, Abayas and hijabs.
The event was filled with speeches of appreciation and congratulations, live music and performances, showcasing Somali culture and football spirit.
It has been a night of pride and unity in football which highlighted Somalia’s passion for football, as the country’s football landscape continues to evolve.
At the end of the gathering SFF president told the audience “Together we will achieve greatness.”
