The Hotlist has announced plans to integrate the new Facebook Places API with The Hotlist’s popular location-based service.
With the addition of Facebook Places to The Hotlist, people will soon be able to check into a Facebook Place via The Hotlist’s mobile app, and check-ins to a Facebook Place via other means will be fed back into The Hotlist. This tight integration will lead to significantly more associations of people to venues, furthering The Hotlist’s position as the world’s largest location-based service in terms of data. The Hotlist already offers the latest on friends’ past, present and future social destinations, and can pinpoint the closest active venues and events to the user’s current location, anywhere in the world.
“The simple fact that our technology aggregates location-specific data from sites like Facebook, Twitter, Yelp and others is much more valuable to our users than other location-based solutions, as it provides all of the information that’s necessary to make the most informed and satisfying social decisions,” said Chris Mirabile, co-CEO of The Hotlist.
“The new API for Facebook Places will further strengthen The Hotlist’s position and value in the location-based service space, and we’re excited that more people will be able to access more relevant data no matter where they are.”
The Hotlist also announced that a new Web user interface that provides customizable map-based navigation of popular places and events. People will now be able to view what the world is up to by zooming in or out of major cities to small rural areas, displaying trends and interests for over 82 countries. With its community centric algorithm, The Hotlist can provide an accurate view of global activity at specific times, several weeks into the future.
