Crossfire War – Iran Massing Troops Along Iraq Kurdish Border

Crossfire War – TEHRAN – ANKARA WATCH – West Asia Theatre: Tehran – Baghdad – Ankara/Erbil – Kirkuk – London – Washington; IRAN MASSING TROOPS ALONG BORDER WITH IRAQ KURDISTAN – BASHAMAGH CROSSING – TURKEY – IRAN JOINT OPERATION AGAINST KURDISH SEPARATISTS

Night Watch: BASHAMAGH CROSSING – Ever since Saddam’s overthrow in 2003 Ankara has repeatedly threatened to attack Kurdish bases in northern Iraq that have supported Kurdish separatists in southeast Turkey. Tehran has also often had problems with Kurdish separatists along its border with Iraq-Turkey even when the Shah of Iran headed the country and before. After the Khomeini, revolution in 1979 Kurdish separatists became active in Iran again in their centuries old effort to establish an independent Kurdistan, which would control territory in Syria-Turkey -Iraq-Iran. No government in or out of the region would ever support its creation unless outside powers wanted to weaken the governments caught up in the war against Kurdish nationalism. [AKI]

However, perhaps governments in the West-Russia may believe an independent Kurdistan is worth supporting, a possibility to consider, especially if the current national states in West Asia (Middle East) become more difficult. The Kurdish military-political groups fighting for its creation obviously have never had any respect for current national boundaries in the region, but I suspect they have their agents and representatives in major capitals in the West and Russia. Usually best the Kurds can realistically hope to achieve is autonomy, a virtual state within a state, but the militants – nationalists in the movement are not that compromising, but they could receive more military support from the West-Russia as a way of weakening governments that support the Islamic war effort, Jihad, against the Allies.

Today AKI reports, from sources that requested they remain unidentified, that Iran is massing troops along its border with Iraq Kurdistan and that the troops are from the Basij units of the Iran Revolutionary Guards. These units were extremely active, as crossfirewar.com monitored all last year, during Iran’s series of war-games maneuvers, which Tehran claimed were defensive. Tehran also claims their nuclear program is for peace.

Last year, August 24, crossfirewar.com mentioned a report from the Cihan News Service that F-16 jets of the Turkish Air Force bombed Kurdish bases of the nationalistic Kurdish Workers Party (PKK), some of their bases in northern Iraq and that they were also shelled and attack by Turkish ground forces. I don’t think the lost alliance of London-Washington ever dared to make a public comment about it, which is why I doubt when Iran invades Iraqi Kurdistan, as Turkey does the same along Iraq’s northern border, that London-Washington will have much to say either, except perhaps recognize the military fait accompli (accomplished fact) defeat of their disastrous occupation, which Riyadh insists they maintain.

I would not be surprised if some of the Iranian units that conduct the invasion are also are ordered to engage occupation forces in Iraq. It would catch London-Washington completely off guard, become a front of the larger regional war, and prevent US/UK from quickly removing their units and redeploying them to the Balkans when fighting resumes there over Kosovo. This is not a war the US/UK are prepared to encounter.
