Hurricane Florence Preps: United Airlines Offers Travel Waivers for Flights on September 10-16

United Airlines Prepares for Hurricane Florence

It is not only American residents who are bracing themselves for the expected landfall of the “monster” Hurricane Florence. United Airlines is also geared up with comprehensive plans to ensure its customers, employees and facilities are safe.

Its website united.com and social media channels including @United on Twitter and United Airlines Facebook page are packed with information that guide customers through its updated news, announcements and travel updates.

For customers of the airline who will be affected by Hurricane Florence, worry no more. The United Airlines this time is offering travel waivers ticketed on flights to, from or through impacted cities from Sept. 10 through Sept. 16, 2018. This means there will be no payment for rebooking and rescheduling flights during these dates.

In addition, United Airlines will waive first, second, excess, overweight and oversized baggage fees as well as in-cabin pet fees for all flights to/from the below cities:

  • Asheville, North Carolina (AVL)
  • Charleston, South Carolina (CHS)
  • Charlotte, North Carolina (CLT)
  • Charlottesville, Virginia (CHO)
  • Columbia, South Carolina (CAE)
  • Fayetteville, North Carolina (FAY)
  • Greenville/Spartanburg, SC (GSP)
  • Greensboro, North Carolina (GSO)
  • Myrtle Beach, South Carolina (MYR)
  • Norfolk, Virginia (ORF)
  • Raleigh/Durham, North Carolina (RDU)
  • Richmond, Virginia (RIC)
  • Roanoke, Virginia (ROA)
  • Savannah, Georgia (SAV)
  • Shenandoah Valley Airport, Virginia (SHD)
  • Wilmington, North Carolina (ILM)

Hurricane Florence, dubbed as a powerful Category 4 storm, is expected to bring deadly surge and rainfall to North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia, and parts of the Mid-Atlantic states.

Generous Offers To Custumers

United Airlines say they understand the hassles and the troubles that the Hurricane Florence may impact its costumers. That is why to lighten the spirits of weary travelers, UA reduced its fares for last-minute bookings.

Aside from that, the airline does not wait for customers to change their flight schedules during dates with bad weather conditions. Instead, the company’s employees made the first move to contact customers with reservations and rebook their flights.

To make it fast and more convenient for customers to change travel plans, customers who require rebooking or customers without reservations should not go to the airport. United is encouraging customers to call 1-800-UNITED-1 for help rebooking travel.

United Airlines and United Express operate approximately 4,600 flights a day to 357 airports across five continents. In 2017, United and United Express operated more than 1.6 million flights carrying more than 148 million customers.
