The Blake Lively Sisterhood Of The Traveling Pants Interview

Fresh from her huge Teen Choice win and a bunch of awards for Gossip Girl to brag about, Blake Lively hits the big screen nearly simultaneously, with Sisterhood 2. In the movie, those gossipy girlfriends in their own right have moved on from high school to higher education, leaving the past behind except for those pants that cling in more ways than one.

Blake stopped by to drop hints about the movie, and what may be new and different juicy stuff on the show regarding her small-screen persona, that preppy party girl Serena van der Woodsen. The lanky lady was also emphatic about shooting down all those rumors concerning just how tall she may or may not be.

First things first. What was Jesse Williams wearing when he dropped his drawers in the movie?

BLAKE LIVELY: Some underwear, I’m sure!

Speaking of clothes or the lack of them, is your own fashion sense anything like the characters you play?

BL: Well Bridget is like Indiana Jones, and I don’t dress like that. And I don’t wear soccer outfits. So mine is very different. That was an easy answer for me!

Yeah, I was like Indian Jones in this movie, and that’s crazy for me. You know, those swooping hats. It was awesome. But I dress a little different than that.

How do you relate to Bridget?

BL: Bridget is strong and determined. And she lives at a…very fast pace!

Blake, I hear you were on crutches on the set, after falling off your moped. How was that experience in Greece?

BL: The stairs were wonderful! Especially with the rocks wobbling when you were trying to get up them!

So what’s the craziest gossip you ever read about yourself?

BL: The things they make up. I’ve had people call me and be like, you didn’t tell me you were in town. When I’m across the country. Because I was seen making out with somebody, or shopping in some store, or something.

Also another one, from the hair and makeup girls. It was funny, so they put it up in our trailer. It was like, Blake tells a tall tale! And it was that I’m really five foot four. But that I lie, and I say that I’m really tall. And that I’m wearing stilts to be really tall!

They were like, the only way she’s anywhere near five ten, is if she’s on stilts. And it was this big article. It was like half the page.

So how tall are you really?

BL: I’m like…five four! My stilts are under the table! Ha! But they just make crazy things up. So, I don’t know…

Who has been your sisterhood in real life?

BL: My best friends are one from the seventh grade, and one from the second grade. Which I don’t think was that long ago!

Blake, with Gossip Girl shooting in NY, what do you like or not like about shooting here?

BL: Well, sometimes I think, what am I getting up to shoot three in the morning! But it’s great, just getting to shoot on these beautiful cobblestone streets. It’s just a magical place. And it’s a character too. I don’t think our show would work, if it wasn’t in New York.

And some of my favorite movies were shot in NY. But I don’t know, I can’t describe what I feel about being here. It just makes me…warm and fuzzy!

How are you with watching yourself on the screen?

BL: I get really shy watching myself in a movie. Even if I’m with my family or friends. I just want to hide! And in this movie, I felt my worst scenes were with my father. Because it felt so strange to be working alongside him.

What was bad about that?

BL: Yelling at him! Because you can’t yell at him. He’d just give you a big teddy bear hug. But it was really an honor to have him be there, and I don’t know when we’ll get to do that again.

He’s the first one in our family who got into this business, and I never wanted to be in it. But it’s just nice that we get to be on the screen together. He’s just so weird and shy. But I thought he was so great and touching. And I hope I didn’t go mess up his scenes!

What is it that keeps you grounded, and away from being all those girls gone wild celebrities yourself?

BL: I just think for too many people, it becomes a way of life instead of a job. And my whole family is in this business, I grew up with that mindset. So I think that’s the thing for me.

It’s just like at the end of the day, I want to go to dinner. And like watch a movie. I don’t want to go to a club and…not wear panties!

Now just between us, can you say what will be coming up on your show?

BL: I don’t really know what I’m allowed to say, but…I’ll tell you anyway. Just between us! You know, we start back at the Hamptons, it’s a recap of our summer. And a lot of the relationships that were set up at the end of the last season, they’re misleading.

But we have new characters coming in, just from the beginning. And they’re messing everything up. You know, everyone’s dating everyone, and sleeping with everyone. There’s lots of scandalous stuff happening.

But there’s so much happening. And even reading the episodes, I’m shocked. Even I was like, oh my goodness, I can’t believe it. So we’re definitely more scandalous. And juicy. And more of what people love about the show.
