Crossfire War – Delhi Demands Dhaka Arrests Islamic Militants – Close Camps

Crossfire War – TEHRAN WATCH – South Asia Theatre: Delhi/Dhaka – Islamabad – Tehran; India Presents Bangladesh with List of 103 Islamic Militants and 172 Training Camps – Demands Bangladesh Arrest and Close Them

Night Watch: DHAKA – India’s Border Security Forces (BSF) presented to the Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) a list of 103 Islamic militants and 172 training camps India claims are in Bangladesh and a base for separatists groups that have staged attacks against India for years. The situation became more serious when Delhi’s investigation into the Mumbai commuter train bombings on July 11 discovered that some of the attackers came from bases in Bangladesh. [WEBINDIA]

The news reported no response from Dhaka to Delhi’s charges and demands. Bangladesh was the main battleground in the third war between India-Pakistan in 1971, a war in which Pakistan President General Pervez Musharraf is a veteran. The war resulted in Bangladesh’s independence, having been part of Pakistan, designated East Pakistan with India’s and Pakistan’s independence in 1947. For the past few years however Pakistan and Bangladesh have ended their differences and both have serious working relations with Iran and will therefore be major fronts in the fourth war against India. The impact of the Khomeini revolution in Iran 1979 has been felt very heavily in Bangladesh.

September will answer a lot of questions since the monsoon ends then, making the month the best time of year for war on the subcontinent. Delhi has been stating for at least the past two years that there are 59 Islamic militant training camps in Pakistan’s part of Kashmir and with some of them located next to Pakistan regiments. Delhi’s demands that Islamabad close them have gone unheeded. Since then India has instituted its “hot pursuit” policy, declaring the right to pursue Islamic militants into Pakistan. Islamabad has stated all along if that ever happens they will be forced to respond.

I suspect the same holds true for Bangladesh. With so many Islamic groups in that country, poised to attack India, Delhi will probably use its hot pursuit policy there also and with Dhaka responding. Tehran will then activate its security agreement with Islamabad while also supporting Dhaka.
