Crossfire War: Syria - Assad Urges Palestinian Militant Groups to Close Ranks

Night Watch: DAMASCUS - In blatant defiance of Washington President Assad of Syria met with leaders of 10 militant Palestinian groups and urged them to close ranks.

AP reported that at the meeting was Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal, in which Assad encouraged all of them to continue their struggle in order to achieve their purpose of an independent Palestinian state.

This is an obvious insult to Washington’s attempt to control Middle Eastern affairs while at the same time it is also obvious that Damascus continues to show its complete cooperation with Iran as they both proudly oppose the U. S. and Israel.

It is no coincidence that the U. S. and Iraqi forces have just completed another operation near Syria’s border while at the same time action has increased in Basra near Iran’s border.

It is one year after Iran’s then President Mohammad Khatami made his four nation trip of the region and during his stay in Damascus he openly stated the two nations form a military axis to remove pressures from the U.S. and Israel.

Both Iran and Syria since then have become more obvious in their preparations for war and confrontational, while putting on a show of cooperation. Crucial to starting a larger war is to have the militant groups act as one, forcing Israel to respond, perhaps in a similar way as she did in June 1967.

It would be the final nail in the coffin of President Bush’s vision of Middle East peace under his rule and business clients profit. Tehran-Damascus intend to use the wider war to further trap the lost alliance of US/UK and engulf them in heavier fighting.
