Eng Bana Ali quits Africa’s Inter City Basketball Committee
Engineer Bana Abdalla Ali, [Somalia] who served for years as the Media and Marketing Commissioner for East and Central Africa’s Inter City Basketball Committee, has announced his resignation from the regional Africa basketball body.
The London Underground Engineer announced his resignation in a letter he sent to the president of East and Central Africa Inter City Basketball Committee, Mr. Simon Msoffe in which he said he earned much experience over the years he served as the basketball committee’s head of media and marketing commission.
“It is with sadness to inform you that this letter is my formal resignation from my post as the head of Marketing and media commission. I am very honored and grateful to have been a member of the East and Central Africa Basketball Committee board,” Engineer Bana Ali said in his resignation letter.
“Taking such a decision has not been very easy, but I have decided that it will be in the best interest for my professional career,” said Engineer Bana Ali adding that over the years he enjoyed working in a group of enthusiastic and productive people.
FIBA Africa commissioner, Agina Wesonga [Kenya] who is also member of the inter city committee, said that his committee was welcoming Engineer Bana’s resignation if he decided to take a break, adding that he did a good job over the years he has been member of the committee.
Engineer Bana who previously served as Somali Basketball Federation Secretary General, was the man who in 2009 resumed Somalia’s positions in the Pan Arab Basketball Federation and that of FIBA Africa Zone 5 after decades of Somalia’s absence from the committees due to civil wars.
He is now respected in his homeland [Somalia] as the most hardworking Secretary General in Somalia’s basketball history.
“Engineer Bana Ali had lent a forceful commitment to promotion of Somali basketball in particularly the efforts he did to revive Somali basketball’s involvement in Africa and the Arab world after years of setbacks,” said Somali Basketball Federation’s interim Secretary General, Abdi Abdulle Ahmed AKA Baasaale.
