Trump Versus the Left Over America’s Future

The battle over how America will view immigration in the future is being fought right now. The seeds for this fight between the liberal left and conservative right goes far back in American history. This battle is essentially Trump versus the left.

It was Alexander Hamilton, America’s first treasurer, who wrote the judiciary was the “least dangerous branch” of our government. He contended it was the executive branch that had to uphold their decisions.

So it is with the immigration issue and the banning of certain countries from our soil. Will the judiciary usurp the right of the president to make that decision because they do not like him? A frightening thought, and yet that is where we seem to be headed.

Last year federal District Court judges announced that Trump’s travel bans were unconstitutional. Oh really? They said his directives were the fruit of a poisoned tree. The Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals said Trump’s tweets showed that he was “tainted with animus toward Islam.”

Supreme Court

The issue is now before the Supreme Court. The Court will hear an appeal of a District Court decision in Hawaii, affirmed by the Ninth Circuit, that the ban revealed Trump’s hostility to Muslims.

It has taken over 18-months to reach this level, but finality of the issue is near. Trump has been addressing the problem of radical Islamic jihadists. But a politically minded judiciary hasn’t been interested. They have been legislating from the bench, a dangerous practice that has grown over the past few years.

The Court claimed Trump is tainted with racial or religious bias. We are told the judiciary can lead the way for us in the age of Trump. Really? Should we applaud the Democrats’ desperate measure, filing a lawsuit against Republicans for supposedly colluding with the Russians in the 2016 election?

Democrats Have Nothing

The real situation tells us Democrats have run out of evidence of collusion, and merely want to keep the issue on life support. So they use the courts for that purpose. Just as they do with liberal judges defining the law though their own ideology.

This is clearly runaway judicial power. It can be seen at its clearest in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals located in San Francisco, representing nine western states. Their rulings are disallowed at the level of the Supreme Court on an average of 79 percent.

When judges usurp political power, it isn’t just them against the president. It is the difference between democratic and non-democratic government. In more precise terms; between rule by elected officials and rule by a priestly class of judges.

The Supreme Court will not make the final ruling on Trump’s travel ban spread across six nations and their right to travel to America. His ban should be upheld protecting this country against foreign terrorism. It should not be based on a political encounter group as the Democrats have become.

If courts are allowed to continue intruding on political decisions, we are in more trouble than anyone can imagine. This dangerous innovation by liberals to overrule aspects of our society they wish to change must be stopped by concerned Americans interested in the long view of the greatest country the world has ever seen.
