Donald Trump Declares Open Season on The Clintons

On Wednesday this week GOP presidential front runner Donald Trump was interviewed by Joe Scarborough on his MSNBC program, “Morning Joe.” Now that Trump is well ahead of the field, it seems that he is now focusing on important issues and less on theatrical stunts.

Trump wanted to talk about his business and negotiating skills and he covered a range of topics, including his opinion of Hillary Clinton’s ability to be president.

Speaking to Scarborough, Trump said “I’m up by a lot and want to get along with everybody. I would like to, believe it or not, unify the Republican Party.”

In politics, friendship doesn’t always mean much, and just after he brought up the question of Ted Cruz’s dual citizenship in both Canada and the U.S., Trump said he is hesitant to criticize candidates he calls friends.

In this case, he was referring to Cruz and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.

Texas Sen. Ted has been questioned abut the fact that he has dual citizenship and also that he was born in Canada.

Brushing off the reason he brought it up, Trump said “I guess everybody’s talking about it now that he (Cruz) is doing better. It’s a problem for him and a problem for the Republicans. Let’s say he got a nomination and the Democrats bring suit. The suit takes two to three years to solve. It’s a concern for the party. I hope that’s not the case. I’m not involved in that. A lot of people are bringing it up, absolutely.”

Most political pundits agree there is no illegality to research. That will not stop people from challenging filings. The Presidential Primary Filing in Illinois closed on January 6th, and already, someone has challenged Cruz, probably over his eligibility.

Trump also took a shot at his friend New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, who recently called Trump a “carnival barker.” Trump referred back to the origin of that line which came from Barack Obama. “First of all, the carnival, you shouldn’t copy from other people. That was Barack Obama and he thought that was clever. Obviously, it hasn’t worked out.”

Trump, as the GOP front-runner, theorizes most candidates are not attacking him ” … because they’re intelligent people and looking at my track record and it’s been good. The people that have attacked me are no longer here or down to zero in the polls or like Jeb Bush.”

Trump believes he single-handedly knocked Jeb Bush out of the race by divulging the former Florida governor’s “obvious lack of enthusiasm.”

The attacks on The Donald from the Republican PACs have not achieved what they expected to.

Trump may not be viciously attacking his republican rivals, but the same cannot be said for Hillary Clinton. With Hillary Clinton, he is ferocious, and he points to her time as Secretary of State. “She doesn’t have the strength or stamina. As secretary of state she was a disaster. She traveled a lot. What does she do on the plane? Sleep? It’s not that hard to do if you’re traveling on a beautiful United States plane. Hillary doesn’t have the strength or stamina to take on our enemies.”

And as should be expected, he also took a shot at Bill Clinton describing him as a “sexist.”

Bill and Hillary may have been hoping the Republican PACs would take out Donald Trump, but it wasn’t to be, at least not yet. There is still a long way to go to the election, and there is sure to be a lot more dirt thrown up this year. Some of that may be heading in Hillary’s direction.
