Touchdowns for Troops! Freedom Alliance Benefits from Falcon Fan Generosity

For the second consecutive year, a Freedom Alliance supporter and Air Force Academy football fan is donating $1,000 for each touchdown the Falcons score this season. Last year, a similar pledge resulted in a $48,000 contribution for the Freedom Alliance Scholarship Fund and Support Our Troops Program. Freedom Alliance is an organization committed to honoring the service of our men and women in uniform.

The Falcons open their regular season August 30 against Southern Utah. On November 15 they will host their final home game against BYU where a check presentation to Freedom Alliance will take place.

“We can’t thank our donor enough for supporting the men and women of our Armed Forces in such an innovative way,” Freedom Alliance President Tom Kilgannon said. “We are thrilled that such generosity will help provide college scholarships for the children of our military heroes and to fund appreciation events and financial grants that benefit our wounded service members. Go Falcons!”

Over the years, the Freedom Alliance Scholarship Fund has provided hundreds of college scholarships to students, awarding nearly $2 million to the sons and daughters of U.S. service members who have been killed or permanently disabled in an operational mission or training accident.

The Support Our Troops Program honors members of our Armed Forces – those who have been wounded in combat and are recuperating at military hospitals throughout the United States – as well as those currently serving on the frontlines. Freedom Alliance accomplishes these goals through visits to military hospitals, Troop Appreciation Dinners and other appreciation events, grants for wounded troops, and Gifts from Home care packages to soldiers stationed overseas. Freedom Alliance has hosted Troop Appreciation Dinners this year including one for wounded troops at Fort Carson in Colorado Springs.

The mission of Freedom Alliance is to advance the American heritage of freedom by honoring and encouraging military service, defending the sovereignty of the United States and promoting a strong national defense.
